that was uncanny. I just finish reading a post that it wasn't official yet, but should be soon, click back to the homepage, and see this.

So we'll be seeing Stromile in the next game?

who cares, no collins. a refeshing sight to see

under breaking news on Hot List it says Lakers, Grizzlies trade P. Gasol for K. Brown... is this a joke?

Jason Collins was a true professional for the seven years he was here. Wish him nothing but the best.

With Boone starting it's not like we see him often, anyway.

Nope.

No i saw it also on ESPNEWS......Stromile to Nets and Collins to Memphis.....looks like they said it was done...maybe they are still finalizing it with more players who knos...

Wow. I am stunned that this actually happened.

...I kind of miss him

somebody hold me!

Collins could easily start in Memphis. The whole reason why Hakim and Swift weren't getting much burn was that they couldn't play man to man defense.

Best luck to Collins.

How about Collins could easily become fans favorite in Memphis.

it's not that they want Collins, it's that they wanted to get rid of other player badly.

Holy guacamole.

Okay, I have a cool idea: We add in...Antoine Wright, and get Hakim Warrick. Think it could happen?

wow we got rid of collins for a player who can actually do some things. i thought he would just be part of a package next year, but its like collins and his contract got us someone straight up. swift has his positives and negatives. be interesting how swift and frank work together

If this is true then Nenad must be playing tonight? Either that or we're going small ball, which may not be bad against the Heat. No Shaq or Mourning.

any chance we can go after Miller as well? he too was nearly dealt to the Lakers, Magloire and Wright?? two more expiring contracts! and it frees up another roster spot for that Jkidd trade thats bound to happen before the deadline.

Yeah and the picks crack me up. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Grizzlies will get the Lakers' first-round draft choices in 2008 and 2010; guard Aaron McKie, signed earlier Friday for salary cap purposes; cash considerations, and the rights to Gasol's brother Marc, a 2007 second-round pick of Los Angeles.

The Lakers also receive the Grizzlies' second-round pick in 2010.</div>

So the Lakers gave a late 1st rounder in 2008 and 2010 and will pick up a very high 2010 2nd rounder. Those 2010 picks could be 1 or 2 positions apart!

They traded their franchise player for cap space and 1 late 1st round pick. Too stupid.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Legacy @ Feb 1 2008, 05:29 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Why would any team want Collins?
</div>

Because he is a good post defender and they have none?

Because he is smart playing the post--averaging less than a turnover a game for his career--and that team is filled with basketball dunces, players like Stromile Swift and other busts like Darko Milicic? He will help by setting picks for Rudy Gay, something no one down there did well?

Because he doesn't complain and that team is filled with complainers, players like Stromile Swift and other busts like Darko Milicic and a diva named Pau Gasol?

Because he actually has a record of TEAM accomplishment, having played in 75 playoff games in six years and played twice in the NBA Finals and Memphis has never gotten out of the first round?

Who the hell is gonna step up and score 30+ a night like Collins? With our luck he turns into Shaq in his prime over in Memphis..

Is the trade actually "done" or is it just agreed upon (meaning it will be "done" on Monday)?
