Jabari said that Neil will likely turn to one of these bigs to replace LMA if he bolts.

Conjecture, yes, at least he's not claiming this to be an actual rumor.

I'm convinced Monroe will be a top target - Neil nearly landed him last summer but pulled out at the last second as the Pistons got greedy and were asking for a lot. Last year at this time David Falk wanted Monroe in Portland.

DeAndre is a pipedream. Even if you could super-max him the Clippers would likely match.

Isn't deandre UFA?

You're right.

Just as unlikely - You'd have to convince him that playing with Lillard and Batum is better than CP3 and Griffin.

I checked the connection...

DeAndre Jordan has been on Olshey's team for the majority of his NBA career, 4 of 7 seasons.

As Director of Player Personnel, Olshey drafted DeAndre Jordan in the 2nd round. 3 months later at the start of Jordan's rookie year, Olshey became Assistant GM. 2 years later he became GM. 2 years later he became Blazer GM.

Deandre is more like Robin than Lamarcus and I am personally very happy with Robin even though he had a disappointing series.
Monroe is a nice player but there are other players I like better replacing LA including a cheaper FA called Thomas Robinson.
I prefer bringing someone who is a better fit for our team than just going for the biggest name, if a guy like Drummond was available I would go all out but it has to be someone special to convince me he's worth such price.

Thomas Robinson to replace Aldridge? How much have you been drinking tonight?

He would give us a different look that could be positive, a stronger inside presence. He would also come cheaper than other options and already knows the program. There are other PFs I like but I think we can do worse than a TRob-Meyers rotation.

The Robinson-Barton connection is like the Rudy-Sergio one. If the Clippers get into a bidding war with us for Robinson, Olshey must be sure to get Denver into a 3-way so we either get Robinson with Barton, or else no trade. He must stick to his guns on this.

Bringing Barton back is less important if we have Wes, CJ, Crabbe. He could be valuable until Wes comes back but I think these 3 plus Batum are good enough for the swingmen positions.

But I thought at 7:26 PM we were 100% certain LA was returning?

It's up to him, right? No need to show him the door but there are other options.

I don't see any chance DeAndre comes here. Monroe might be a possibility.

We need to plan like he's leaving, then if he wants to stay we can decide to keep him.

Planning like he's leaving will make him leave. If he leaves we'll likely be in a rebuild. He doesn't want another rebuild. Thus we shouldnt plan for a rebuild and just hope he stays, cuz he won't.

Put me in the camp that says the Blazers would be wasting their time going after Deandre Jordan. Why would he leave unless he is unhappy in LA, and I have not seen anything to indicate that is the case since Doc has gotten there.

Find another Plan A or B. He is not worth over paying just to get his attention.

I think Monroe would take his game to another level in Portland. He's never had spacing in Detroit - As a team they shot 34% from three and their best shooter (Kyle Singler) barely played and was eventially dealt. Prince shot 40% from three on 1.1 3PA.

I think Monroe could actually replicate Aldridge's impact on offense - to an extent. Aldridge isn't an amazing scorer by any means, just extremely high usage with a comically low turnover rate to boot. Monroe is more efficient than Aldridge, but turns it over a bit more. A wash.

He's a complete sieve on defense though, so whoever we pair him up with in the front court better be lockdown. If we got Hibbert - OK. If we stay with Lopez? We're for sure getting worse.

"Monroe is among the steadiest power forwards in the league, but he's limited as an athlete and is not a threat to stretch the floor. According to Basketball-Reference, nearly 40 percent of Monroe's attempts came from the 3-10 foot range, but he converted at only a 37 percent clip. To make matters worse, he was a non-factor in the mid-range, with a mere seven percent of his field goal attempts coming from 10-22 feet. He's also shown no signs of developing as an outside shooter, an increasing focus for teams looking to spread the floor, as he's 0-of-7 from long-range in his career................"

Getting into a bidding war with the Knicks over him may not be wise. Maybe we are better off with Leonard if the guy can't play D.

Monroe will make a fine addition to our core of Aldridge/Lopez/Batum/Wes/Meyers/CJ/Arron

So our biggest limitation on Offense is alack of inside scoring presence and here we have a guy who takes more than half his shots inside 3 feet, and takes 92% of his shots inside 10 feet. Also Monroe is not quite 24, so IMO he and Lillard are a nice start to a core going forward. A starting tandem of Monroa and Leonard for a year or 2 while the retooling begins would be nice balance.

I'm actually not against getting Monroe as long as we pair him with a solid defensive big.

But if Aldridge stays, I wouldn't want Monroe. We still need a defensive anchor to be insurance on the defensive end
