Everyone that I know who is in the fight game disagrees with you here. He's way too slow and lacks power. Does not throw the the volume of punches needed to take down a true competitor. Meaning he wastes his punches. One guy I spoke to said to me he doesn't have the ability to mix his style mid fight.
These same people said Tyson should beat this guy just with his experience alone but the problem with this fight is it's only 8 rounds and the gloves will be 14 ounces. The lack of late rounds (only 8) and it only being 2 min rounds could favor Tyson but heavier/bigger gloves definitely favor Paul.
How it actually got sanctioned is a huge question? Texas does things like this for the money.

What about memories of fights there?
Back in the early mid 60's I don't remember to many fights there, but sure, there were probably a few. I personally never witnessed any there. I dont recall to any at Washington Park either. Seaside back then had summer riots though.

Rocky butte is more apt a place to meet and brawl. Or was when we were younger.

Correct, Jake Paul is a decent boxer. But he is not on a professional level. When he did face another boxer, who wasn’t even that early into his own career in Tommy Fury he lost.

He would crush the average person, but he is no prize fighter.

I don't think they're going to be sparring at all. I think both guys will try to knock the other out. If Jake Paul can't knock out an old man then he will never be taken seriously as a boxer and he really seems to want to be considered for sanctioned championship level prize fights. If Mike Tyson can't knock out a guy who really hasn't had to fight any credentialed professional boxer it will humiliate him whether it should when he's 58 years old or not.
Come on man, are you that much of a casual that you think both will really go all out. Did you watch the Tyson Vs Roy Jones fight from 4 years ago? Did anyone knockout anyone? How did Tyson look to you there, if you even watched it? If anyone is getting knocked out though it’s Tyson due to his age and Paul being on the juice.

But this a gimmick fight and Netflix threw a ton of money at Tyson so they can introduce people to Netflix sports streaming.

I've watched all of Jake's fights and in every one of them he is throwing extremely hard to knock out his opponent. I thought that Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. looked like they were sparring.

Jake wants to make a name for himself or at least keep the huge paychecks coming and he needs that knockout or close to it in order to secure those future bags. I think once Tyson sees the kind of heat that Jake is throwing, he'll be swinging a lot harder than he did against Roy Jones. Just my take. Definitely not a casual... not even in regards to the sideshow shit like this bout.

I am a huge sports fan and right after basketball is MMA for me with Boxing right after that, then football and casually baseball, soccer and hockey. I was a basketball player and rabid fan since I was eight. I started taking naps on Thursdays when I was eleven to have permission to stay up late and watch Thursday night fights on USA Network, obviously MMA wasn't really even around then and I got into that in 2000 while they were not on PPV but I watched every UFC by getting them from Blockbuster and when they started airing their stuff live again, I was watching. I've seen all of Tyson's fights, the first one I watched live was the first time he knocked out Frank Bruno.

Again, I realize what you're saying within the context of the Roy Jones exhibition but I want to point out for a second time that neither of those guys were throwing with any venom behind their punches. I think Jake has a lot of incentive to try to take Tyson out and I just think that when someone tries to do that to a guy as experienced as Mike Tyson, it will illicit a different response than we saw against Roy Jones Jr.

Jake Paul has also been fighting a ton of over the hill old aged MMA fighters and bum boxers bro. Once again, why didn’t you mention Paul boxing and losing to Fury, the ONLY real boxer he has ever faced.

you said Tyson and Jones looked like a sparring match…you never thought maybe it was because both guys were around 54!?? You can’t beat age bro, especially in combat sports. So it looked like that because they are old and slow, sadly no one beats Father Time.

guess what, you’re talking to someone that has watched more boxing than you.

I started watching Tyson when he fought Peter Mcneilly.‘I have watched all his fights since then. I watched the career of Roy Jones, I was a huge hardcore boxing fan. And now been a huge hardcore MMA fam since 2006. Haven’t missed a UFC event since 2006 and I also bet MMA for more than 5 years so I study the fighters as I place bets on them. I just finished watched 7 hours of UFC fights last night.

So you talking to someone who has watched more boxing and MMA. I also trained MMA and boxing for 7 years. I know my stuff too!

Tyson is 58 bro. Let me repeat, 58! He will have 1 round, 2 mins of a a burst in him to knock out Paul. After that, Tyson is going to look like from round 2 on what you saw in the Jones fight. You can’t beat Father Time, I don’t know why you think Tyson can come out swinging hard for more than 2 mins at his age. Anything is possible but as I said, if anyone is getting Ko’d it’s Tyson due to his age and inability to take a punch at his AGE and that Paul is a decent boxer who is on the juice.

But don’t get it twister, this is a gimmick fight regardless .

Honestly, is Tommy Fury even a real boxer? Who has he ever fought to legitimize his career?

He is the best boxer Paul has fought, and Paul lost to him. Now think why is that? So I don't know what you're trying to go on about with me now, or what point you're trying to make, but if he also isn't a "real boxer" as you said, which is what the other people Jake Paul has fought so far weren't, but you basically HELP my point in the above post about Paul since he lost to him lol.

I think that was his point.

What makes you think I'm disputing your point? Not everything is (or needs to be) an argument.

I would say that Paul losing to Fury on points in a split decision isn't necessarily an indictment; it suggests they're basically on the same level. But really, who knows what that level is? In their combined 18 matches against other people, zero have been against anyone of substance.

Because every post to me so far has you trying to dispute what I said. You and that Phatguy are my two biggest fans.

And now here is another one. Did you watch the fight? Paul did not deserve to get a split that was a clear Tommy win for anyone that was watching the fight and knows boxing.

You just looking at it from the outside and trying to look smart. watch the fight again and tell me that was split, come on. It’s boxing, judging is flawed in boxing and bs decisions all the time.

Fury has trained pure boxing for over 10 years, has actual fights against other actual other boxers trying to come up. His dad coaches as well and his brother is one of the best HW boxers in the world.

Jake Paul first couple fights were pure gimmick fights, fighting Nate Robinson, a former NBA player. Then over the hill MMA fighters. 47 year old Anderson Silva, 40 year old Nate Diaz, 37 year old Woodley. And now a 58 year old Tyson.

how about this one, when Paul has fought someone’s that wasn’t old as shit, he has lost. And that was one time because all his fights are jokes and he has HUGE size advantages in all of those, we aren’t even mentioning that.

you want another example? Go look at Holyfield last fight, a couple years ago. He had a boxing fight against a former MMA fighter in Belfort. Go look at how that went. Holyfield is like 60 and got stopped in round 1 it was sad to see. Can’t beat Father Time man. Tyson is almost 60’guys how are you defended this or thinking this is fair and they are both going to come out swinging.

Nice try though, but this is a joke of a fight and many agree

Mike is not your typical 57 year old either. If you look at Tyson move, he's still quick and explosive. Paul's never faced anyone with that kind of punching power. I'll be rooting for Tyson, because of what a great accomplishment it would be for someone age his age to come back and win.

I thought we had buried the hatchet--I didn't realize you were still holding a grudge against me. The last time I had replied to you, I thought we had had a quite pleasant, positive, reasonable exchange.

I'm not "trying to look smart"--I'm simply providing my opinion based on the information available to me. If you watched the fight and the scoring was unreasonable, that's fine--I'm not going to argue with that, because I didn't watch the fight, and it would be silly for me to dispute your more-informed evaluation.

All-in-all, nothing I've said argues your position that Jake Paul is not a legit boxer, nor was it intended to. You're trying to fight against someone who is basically already on your side.

Ya I'm rooting for Tyson too. But if he is going to get the KO, it will need to be inside round 1 or 2...father time is undefeated and he won't be able to keep up with bursts of attacks at his age for more than a round or two imo...I also just don't know if he can take a punch at his age..so it could take one shot from Paul to hurt him....

I really hope it doesn't look like this : This is also what Holyfield looked like at 58, same age as Tyson right now.

There is real health concerns that could take place with Tyson too if Paul hits him hard enough. I'm surprised they would sanction this fight but money talks.

Understandable then, and my bad if I read your comment the wrong way. Yes the hatchet is buried, no issues here on my side bro.

I'm rooting for a catastrophic sewage backup in the fighters' parking garage.
