Jamal Crawford

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

As I recall Crawford started his NBA career as a PG. Not a good one, but certainly could be used in a pinch if everyone else got hurt. And you know with us that could happen.

Yes I remember when the Bulls drafted him thinking how enticing a tall PG like that is.

I'd love for us to get Crawford on only a 1 year deal! He may be our starting SG on opening night, and could fill in for Felton for a few minutes here or there. Felton was spotted at an IHOP today ordering the left side of the menu.

Confirmation Jamal Crawford's agent Andy Miller just said by text that Wolves are no longer in the running for his client

So we still have our BAE. That's about $1.7mil starting.

Any bigs out there we could get for that?

To offer Crawford $5 million we have to amnesty Roy. If he signs we'll still have one free roster spot, which we use on whatever the best big man we can find at the vet minimum or the BAE.

I wonder if in a few weeks Pryzbilla or someone else wants to play, would we consider cutting Armon to add another big man? Crawford or Elliot can play the role of temporary 3rd and 4th PG for this team. I don't see any sort of a role for Armon on this team. With injuries and fouls I think its much more likely we need to sign TWO additional bigs to bring our roster to 15.

is Earl Barron taking a roster spot? if he is he could go to

Nope I didn't include him. If we can't get anyone better with the BAE or Vet min I suppose we could keep Earl Barron.

Camby/Chris J
LMA / Thomas
Wallace / Batum /Babbit
Matthews/Crawford/Elliot
Felton/Smith/Armon

Plus an injured Oden takes our roster to 14 giving us only one spot. I think we have to bring in another big man. So yeah after that I think I'd keep Armon over Barron but I'd cut Armon if we can get Pryz or another solid vet at the minimum.

Did we not already use our Vet Min on Thomas? I thought we got only one of those exceptions?

I'd much rather have Jamal Crawford then Reggie Evans. Yes we have more of a need for a PF then a SG, but Crawford has NBA talent, Evans is a bit player.

Well if he ends up coming here, it's a nice addition, probably not a real game-changer, but it certainly makes them more competitive for a little while. Even if he doesn't come here there are "advantages" (if you take a long run view).

There is no limit on the number of Vet minimum players you can sign. Its the minimum salary, but for old guys in the league with 10+ years experience they still get paid like $1.5 million.

We can sign as many vet. minimum contracts (which vary depending on # of years in the league) as we'd like. The MLE and BAE are the exceptions that we can only use once (assuming we amnesty Roy).

IIRC, you can only use one and not both in the same year ... FYI

No you can use the MLE every year, but only the BAE (Bi-Annual Exemption) ever other year. Yes you can use both in the same year, although I can't remember if we already used our BAE last season.

Would love to see us get injury exception for roy, sign Crawford with it, 1 year, 5 million. THEN, amnesty him, get the MLE, and use that on Landry. And use BAE on Fesenko or other 'project" big.

Is that really possible? Quick was speculating about it too.

Holy shit. That would be huge.

I like the way you think!

I doubt it's allowed, maybe with DPE, you have to keep player on roster or something. but worth trying, I tyhink.

RE: Nikowhateverthefuckhisnameis:

Perhaps, but I guess it doesn't really matter as there's probably another way to go about signing a player to an MLE-sized contract: the Disabled Player Exception (via Roy). In that case, they could still use the BAE, too, no?

Hmmm ... I don't know why I was thinking you could only use one, but regardless, that BAE isn't likely to get the team much at roughly 1.8 million.

Last year, BAE was at 2 million, I think it is even higher this season, 2.3, or 2.9? Can't remember which

Well Marc stern reports that Crawford will either decide on Sacramento, new York or Portland by weds. Good to know.

blazersedge

Of 3 reported Crawford finalists, Portland offers best combo of money, PT, shots & chance to win + near Seattle & friends on team.

This should make most of you happy

So wait we can get a 5 mil injury exemption for one year for Roy? - quick. Then we woulnt even have to amnesty Roy to offer 5 mil to Crawford for one year?

I think Crawford is a great pickup because he fills a lot of needs. He can play both guard positions and he provides some MUCH needed scoring off the bench.

I do agree last season, our bench scoring was really hard to watch. Adding him and Batum off the bench is a nice scoring combo. Didn't know he could play some pg as well.
