Oh, he'll be fine, but I would have like to take a chance on a young, hungry D-Leaguer. It's weird how NBA teams just recycle these vet min scrubs instead of dipping down to the Dleague. I'm sure the talent difference is marginal.

Exactly. You can't expect much else off of the scrap heap this time of year unless you look like one of those "lock" conference championship games type teams (ie. Celtics, Lakers, etc.).

Early in the season, I would have went D-League. For right now, stretch run, and needing a guy to give you spot minutes and basically "not hurt you", I'll take someone that's been around the league a while, to avoid the rookie mistakes.

I'm all for it. We clearly need help at the center position. At the very least this will give us another guy so aldridge/camby don't have to play a ton of minutes.

That being said, if Miami signs Murphy and Bibby, and decides to cut Dexter Pittman, I'd love for us to sign Collins(or Howard) and nab Pittman as well beyond this season. Liked him in the draft, as a guy to take a flyer on.

So the 6-foot-11 Collins would add immediate and much-needed help. He also would add playoff experience, having played in the postseason five different seasons with the Utah Jazz and Phoenix Suns. Last season, he started for the Suns at center when they defeated the Blazers in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
