Jason said he brought up to Roy the knock on him as a player. That he doesn't play as well off the ball. Brandon agreed but then made the case. "Why should I (being so great) have to work off the ball?" "Do you see guys like Lebron, Kobe and Dwyane being asked to change their game"

And there you have it. Brandon has annointed himself already. He is great, just ask him. So great he has no other areas of his game to improve. He's in a box and he doesn't want to have to come out of that box. You know what Brandon if that is really your mindset, maybe this team does have it's limitations of how far it can go. This team needs you to be more forward thinking that. This team needs you to want to improve in all areas of your game. This team NEEDS you to improve in all areas of your game. INCLUDING OFF THE BALL!! What makes you so great internally, that makes you feel you shouldn't have to work on this? Or any other area of your game that might need to be worked on?

Come out of your box Brandon. This team, organization needs you.. They have taken care of you and now take care of them.

Well Wade and Kobe played off the ball when they were playing with Shaq. There is a pattern here. You have a dominant low post player like Oden and what Aldridge should be now, you have to play off the ball a little more, so the game comes to you easier.

Regardless, I don't take too much in what Quick says lately. For all we know, Roy could have said something completely out of context to that quote.

glad to see BROY is getting the old school Clyde Drexler treatment.

Yep. Fans here love to build up the players and then criticize them to no end.

Really bright move having an All-Star SG (and 2nd team All-NBA SG) playing out of position at SF.

I dont believe anything Quick reports. I doubt he even talked to Roy. He always reports what he THINKS is going on... not what IS going on. You guys really think Roy would say something like that to Quick? Really?

Trust me, this is an intermediate move. It'll be Miller, Roy, Webster, Aldridge, and Oden by sometime in the near future.

Roy comes off more and more selfish to me, though. Scary thoughts in my head.

But does he? I haven't seen him selfish on the court, nor have I read anything directly quoted by him. We are reading opinions from people that supposedly know whats going on. Frankly, I don't put too much trust on Quick lately. For some reason, he did the same with other players that got big contracts. It's like the moment they sign for big bucks, he begins to harp on them.

Weird really.

Roy and Quick are tight. Just like Damon and Quick were.

Brandon is right. Why would anyone ask a 2 time allstar and unquestioned best player on this team to take a backseat to a 30 + year old, semi-washed up, fat, can't shoot PG like Andre Miller?

makes no sense.

Brandon is an unselfish player - he will always make the right pass on the court .. you don't have to worry about him feeding Oden or LMA - but to ask him to "play off the ball" so Dre' Miller can get his.. is beyond ridiculous.

That's not why he is being asked to play off the ball

Lol you guys are fucking crazy.

Roy is selfish, scary, wooo, who fucking cares. do you think message board chatter is going to change him, or his role? lawl.

No. But it's discussion. That's why we are here right? Or no?

What does this have to do with the topic? SG or SF, if he was playing alongside Miller, he would be asked to handle the ball slightly less. Do you think if he was playing SG, but being asked to change his role slightly, it would not bug him? Or did you just feel like repeating this, because you didn't get it into enough threads yesterday?

AI, Stabo, and Francis are all selfish players. If some of you guys want to put Roy in the same "line-up" as those players, then go right ahead. I will just sit back and enjoy the "unselfish" 6 assists per game Roy I've seen so far this season.

Fact is, go ahead and say what you want. So what if he's confused about his new role on the team. He is a true professional and family man. If he realizes he's acting selfish, I suspect he will change immediately. Not like I know him personally, but in the same respect as some thinking they know he's selfish, the same applies

No they didn't. Their usage rates were much higher than Roy's, even when playing w/Shaq.

Wade w/Shaq - Wade's 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years in the league

30.9
32.5
34.7

Bryant w/Shaq - Bryant's rookie - 8th seasons

24.7
27.2
25.2
26.8 - first title
31.8 - second title
30.4 - third title
32.9
29.1 - Shaq traded after season

Roy's career usage

23.0
24.9
27.4 - first playoff appearance
26.6 - after 8 games

So much is being made out of the stuff that comes out of JQ's mouth when he talks to 95.5 for his near daily updates on Brandon Roy's psyche. While I agree that it would probably serve Brandon well to become better at coming off of screens, he does have a point that these other guys aren't having to radically alter their games to fit with new additions to the roster -- It's a point that I don't necessarily fully agree with, but I will concede that turning Brandon Roy into a Martell Webster or Nic Batum type wing for more than 15-20% of the time he is on the floor is probably a mistake.

Regardless, I do think Brandon is being a team player and is making an effort to adapt a little bit, and that's all I would ask is that he adjust his game a little -- there is a happy medium in here somewhere and I think He and Miller will find it. If not I hope KP has the balls to make the necessary changes to the makeup of the roster to achieve the balance of roles this team needs and the balance of roles that will keep our three most important players comfortable and in sync (if only Rudy had the handles to bring the ball up the court against a press on a consistent basis or the defensive chops to guard point guards so many problems could have been solved, but c'est la vie).

People that are ready to jump on Brandon's nuts over this I think are overreacting.

No. Maybe a little stubborn and possibly narrow, but not exactly selfish ... especially based on the rest of the talk Quick supposedly had with him.

Really, Roy said "I (being so great)"?
I find that difficult to believe. It doesn't sound like any sentence I've ever heard Brandon say.

HAHAHAHAHHA, yeah that was beat down pretty badly yesterday. I was one to blame as well.

It's why it's in parenthesis. But those are great players. And he is comparing himself to them. But that's not near the point of the my post.

Perhaps you should use brackets next time so people know it's your words
