Brave article, but simple solution.Kill the drug war, all this bullsh** ends. If it ain't illegal, niggas can't get paid. And we gotta let the men out of jail to handle and raise they kids. Black men are the chief casualties and prisoners, but when is somebody gone link that up, and do away with this cycle of flashy dealers, and people that make them into heroes and follow them?

The entire nation would get addicted, much like china did to opium in the 1800s, giving foreign suppliers massive amounts of power over our country as well as the obvious quintupling of overdose deaths. The country would become cripled economically as many people would rather just spend their life buying cheap drugs. Once everybody got hooked the pharmaceuticals would raise the prices to the sky and you'd have thousands of homicidal addicts jonesing.Now granted that's just a fantasy scenario, but I can't see an overall positive effect coming out of legalizing all drugs.

I don't buy it. There are no laws more selectively enforced than American drug laws and that's because if applied fairly, the laws are unenforcable. And the trickle down on black America is staggering. Poverty, AIDS, the children that go unraised that end up in jail...We shouldn't have that cycle of burden. Prison has become an industry. I prefer the alternative. Spend the money on treatment.Dope is so available. Alot of the kids that get on it, do it because it IS illegal. People don't stay off dope because it's illegal. They do it because they got sense.If you're gonna have a drug war, go after the head, not the low level dealers. But that's too expensive economically and politically. We can't stop farmers from growing record amounts of poppy and we got American soldiers all over Afghanistan.Finally, dope is only expensive BECAUSE it's illegal. Decriminalize it, nobody will bother synthesizing it because the money won't be there.

There is clearly a market in drugs and anything that is that desirable to that many people will be a valuable asset to Big Pharma. Prices will go down but the number of consumers will go up. The pharmaceuticals are smart enough to raise prices after enough people get hooked, causing either a reopening of back-alley the drug market or a cripled nation.

The RISK is what makes illegal dope so expensive. And the most important thing about drugs is to excise the illegal element. The guns, the violence, the political influence that dirty money can buy. Gone.Alcohol prohibition taught us that, but not before making a nationwide Italian mob possible. Prohibition was their foundation.
