BTW, I don't really like the way the article was written - well, 1st of all, it was all speculation. 2nd of all, he used the line from "Hello Brooklyn" by Jay-Z way too much -
"So in a couple years baby, I'm a bring you some Nets."

you know what would even be more amazing... if lebron held out of cleveland and forced a trade to the nets! haha
 
Hopefully by that time the Nets have a set of core players ready to support lebron. They shouldnt just focus on signing him but should focus on building him a competitive team.

In all honesty, though, cap space in 2010 doesn't necessarily mean LeBron; aren't a lot of the players from the Class of 2003 going to be FAs in 2010 since a lot of them followed LeBron's lead.

Also, if you read Cleveland's news and forums, they have a different picture of this situation: they recall LeBron saying that he wants to be a one-team player and to put his native Akron on the map. I hope that's the case, but you never know.

with nash and bell and shaq by 2010 and expired as well...amare will sign with us also. (amare FA 2010 also)

I wouldn't buy into that...if he comes to Brooklyn you are looking at endorsements that will be doubled, billboards over times square, commercials that would be 2x more than derek jeter....the guy wants to be the 1st billionaire player...thats not going to happen in a city like cleveland no disrespect
 
Gotta be honest, this is all speculation. Could turn out that none of it really means anything.

vc 2010/2011 = 17 mill

amare will prob get 13-15 mill+ also 1st year

Okay, here it comes: BLASPHEMY.
I don't know if I want Lebron James in a Net Uniform.
I have respect for him and am in awe of his game. But I have rarely enjoyed watching him play. More opportunities may change that, and if his game were to continue to develop more like Magic's, that would help also. However, visually, his game is predicated partly on size and strength. In a aimilar way, I HATE watching Shaquille O'Neal play. Again, it is unfathomable that anyone could get bodies of that size to do the athletic things they do, but is it pretty to watch....not so much. I hated Jordan, but he was beautiful to watch play. Same with Kobe. JKidd, Shawn Kemp, Nash, Gervin, Bird even, most of all, Dr. J. There was a fluidity, an art, a gracefulness, a true 'basketball' way of playing in all those. Lebron's....not so much. Winning is the ultimate prize, but I guess more love watching and enjoying the art and beauty in getting there.
 
I think LeBron is actually a pretty entertaining and exciting player to watch. The problem is that he plays for Cleveland, where they make every game into a brickfest.
 
Lebron or no Lebron we will be in great shape in 2010. There are plenty of other big name FA's and we will have a ton of young assets

Who are you kidding? Amare will demand at least 15-17 million and LBJ will want 18-20. You're underestimating. They'll both want max contracts. Together that's around 35 million dollars out of about 55 million. That leaves you with 20 million dollars for 12 players, which is good if you want a scrub supporting cast.
 
As soon as he resigns with Cleveland, I go back hating him.
 
I could see this board crashing two years from now, if LeBron stays or LeBron comes to the Nets.

...Or if LeBron signs with the Knicks.
 
I think that Lebron has had a good talk with Jay Z and has told Jay Z to make room for him because if the Nets can match any contract offer he gets hell sign with them. Its obvious we are making space for him. We sound confident. All we have to do is wait and watch Lebron in a Nets jersey.
 
You guys better hope to be in a winning situation.

LeBron wouldn't want to come to a team that isn't competing.
 
some guy on CNNSI asked if Jay was the minority owner because he was black. I wasn't sure if he was being serious.
 
Any team he goes to is automatically competing! But I think we'll have a strong foundation waiting for him...better than whatever Cleveland will have, that's for sure.

I think if we want to offer him something better on the court than what he has at Cleveland, we'll have to offer up someone with a low post presence (assuming Big Z is still around in 2010). Can Yi develop into that? I don't think so. Can Nenad, if he signs and stays helathy? Not so sure. Much as I like athletic big men who aren't sucking wind by half court, I think the lack of a legit low post threat will be something that will negatively affect his decision to come here.

I seriously doubt that Big Z will be around by then, he's in his mid 30s already and has had some bad injuries. Lopez can definitely be the low post threat by 2010, and I'm sure we'll be in the lottery next year and possibly after that as well. NOW is the time for the Nets to build the supporting cast of the future, for LeBron or whoever else we decide to make the franchise leader. ATM it's VC, and I'm happy with that.

LeBron's focus in 2010 might or might not be winning a championship, it could simply be to make the most money possible and help whatever team can offer him that. When you look at the big market teams that LeBron will be attracted to, you can gauge what type of financial situation they'll be in by 2010. The Lakers will be low on cash, as will the Knicks. I think we know who will be saving up the money for the King though!
