hedo would have been perfect.

That's kind of funny, he's a terrible defender in Toronto and is posting a very pedestrian PER of 13 or so ... hardly what I would call "perfect"

As we are learning with Miller, it's not about stats or PERS, it is about fitting in.

I too think Hedo would have fit in nicely here.

jaynes on us making the playoffs...

going to be a dogfight to make the playoffs... i don't think this one is an easy fix,

What did Miller have to do with Roy shooting 9-25 last night? Roy said he was excited to play with Miller and that he would make him better. Roy is just playing like shit, it has nothing to do with Miller at all. He will pick it up and we will see the same BRoy that dropped 55 on national TV last year. Just be patient. He's probably just counting his money in his free time, when he gets done he'll be back to normal.

Trade Roy for Rip Hamilton and hand the keys of the franchise to Miller! That way, Roy can have the ball in Detroit, and Hamilton can be the (much better) off-the-ball player many here want to turn Roy into.

It's initially a bit sad to see Roy ripped like this, but then I consider the people doing the criticizing, and I just laugh at them.

efficiency is efficiency. We'd still be just as porous on the perimeter as we are now, and Hedo also likes to have the ball in his hands to be truly effective. I think we'd be having nearly identical conversations about what ails the Blazers -- Crappy D and Brandon having difficulty playing off the ball.

That's exactly it. More correlation/causation confusion.

The thing is, I made this great sandwich just prior to the season and now the season is off to a poor start. Now I'm scared to make such great sandwiches again, but it looks like the damage has already been done. :(

Since I'm the one who used these terms last month, I'll point out that I ALWAYS noted the correlation, and not any causal effect.

I don't think so . .. I think there is a reason Blazers didn't highly seek Miller.

But I realize we can debate all day and we really will never know. But I do get why the Blazers weren't hot after Miller from the get go.

papag, you know whats kind of funny, you're signatuire I assume was to mock taht poster, but you are making him look like a prophet.

I don't know if Roy is more selfish this year, but it is becoming more of an issue in the media and among fans . . . and that poster sensed something wierd way before any other poster voiced this concern.

Roy is selfish. Yes, this is the meme. Also, that poster posted it in October. We were reading about Roy being selfish in July regarding his contract extension.

So, not really a prophet, and a rather silly opinion IMO. Calling someone selfish from afar is easy. What in Roy's game this year has proven him to be selfish besides shooting less and moving to SF?

Throughout Roy's quotes this year they have implied that he can't play with Miller (although his latest quotes seems like he is saying he can play with Miller). And on the court I have seem him pout when he doesn't get the ball.

Like I said before, I don't know if Roy is slefish . . . but that quote you have up there doesn't seen to be way out there. In fact all he says is he is starting to come across more and more selfish and that scares him. If Roy becomes selfish, I think that would scare a lot of fans.

Oh man that must have been his solution from another inteview. In the interview I watched, his solution was "Working Harder". His solutions are always one of those two things.

Well, since no player on this team is consistently "scrappy" and only maybe 2 of them have consistently worked hard so far, maybe he knows what he's talking about.

I think the attention and money that Roy got has definitely turned him into a diva. Not sure how long its going to last, but I'm sure a few more losses and a little more time self evaluating himself will change that in a hurry.

These contract extensions are starting to give me flashbacks of the Miles/Zbo/Theo offseason extension. No they aren't that bad yet, but they are bad enough I wish they could be undone. They are looking worse everyday just as the Nash deals did a few months later.

Someone explain to me how the addition of Miller can so destructively affect Roy?

A) Miller isn't starting. Roy plays most of his minutes with Blake.

B) Miller doesn't dominate the ball as much as many think. Often times I see him bring the ball up the floor and give it to Roy.

C) Miller is a quiet guy. It's not like he's openly questioning Roy and trying to sway the team.

I just don't get it. I think Miller is the scapegoat for our early struggles, and I don't think one damn thing will change if he's gone. The difference is Oden. The team is trying to establish Greg. They are trying to feed the post more, and this is taking away from Roy's game. Blame Miller all you like, but the biggest difference between this year and last, is Oden. Not Miller.

RIGHT ON. Jaynes is a dickweed. Roy and Miller are professionals who will figure it out sooner or later...

I wasn't referring to you, I didn't know you happened to use those terms last month. I just think a lot of people go for the easy but simplistic analysis "Portland was good last year, Miller joined the team, the team is worse now, therefore Miller is making them worse." There are so many variables in play that simply looking at the highest-profile change and assuming it's the sole or primary cause isn't a good way to approach things, as far as I'm concerned.

Dwight Jaynes's Main Problem Is...

Too much food and no exercise, that's the main problem you big tub of goo. :biglaugh:

Maybe we should trade for James Jones again.
How about a straight-up trade, with Blake for Jones???

To me, that might be mutually beneficial. Miami could use a PG and Blake is a native of Miami. Jones is a known positive for this team and could provide some needed SF help.

This would also force Roy to work things out with Miller and free-up more time for Bayless.

I know Jones contract isn't cheap, but I believe most of the remaining years are a team option.

Something to consider.

Jaynes makes some decent points occasionally, but over-exaggerates most of them to get hits. And now that's he more popular than ever, it's getting worse.
