24 is too high for Pendergragh. He has good size and athleticism, but that didn't translate into great production as a 4th year senior in college. Given the fact that he averaged over 32 MPG, he's actually a fairly weak rebounder for his size. We could probably pick him up with one of our many 2nd round picks, but I prefer my back-up power forwards to be rebounding animals. That's not Pendergragh - and certainly NOT at 24.

I'd rather swing for the fences than get a guy who is, at best, a backup.

Let's spend a few million on a solid backup power forward before we get a young, potentially solid backup forward with our first rounder.

Pendergraph you'd want to either move up with your 2nd rounder or move down from #24 and grab another asset.

...or just sign Brandon Bass and call it day?!?!?! :dunno:

he's not coming here for 13 minutes a night.

I know nothing about Brandon Bass, but it says he was averaging 19mpg the last two seasons. If Goden and JZilla are having foul trouble, the backup could get some extra minutes with Lamal still in there at forward/center

...you spoke to him about this already?!?!?!

Of course not. Players and their agents can't be spoken to about employment opportunities in the NBA until July 1. ;)

you really think that he will be looking to not play, and not get paid very much?

I could see that when someone like Joel or Greg is out for the game.. but 12 fouls seemed to be enough with Oden fouling at a huge rate... yet there was enough fouls to have one of the two in most of the time. I dont mean this as hate on Bass.. I like what he brings.. but He wont play here much with LMA here, so one way to convince him to come here is overpay, and overpaying for a guy who wont play much except in instances where our C's are out, wouldnt be a wise investment IMO.

...what has he done to warrant anything more than a backup role???

not saying he will be looking for a starting PF star role.. but the dude isnt looking to get paid 854,000 a year anymore. and I assume he would at least like those extra 6 mpg that he got in Dallas.. and those would be taken away from LMA, or the development of Oden. Just not a wise investment as I stated above.. I'd love to be wrong on this one.. he'd be a hell of a 13 mpg backup 4 but of course its IMO.

...keep in mind, I am assuming that "TO must GO just like zBO" and that Bass will have no trouble getting his usual 15-20mins/game. I don't see anyone in this draft that could provide what he can as a backup PF [at least given our current draft positions].

LA averaged 37 mpg.
48-37 = 11mpg left.
So unless he picks up some time at SF :biglaugh:
The only other slot is Center. To clarify what I meant before, if Old Greg got into foul trouble early and Joel needed rest. Joel was pretty strained this season. I guess I wasn't too clear on that, sorry :sigh:

Do you think Aldridge will be healthy for all 82 games?

Even assuming Bass ONLY plays power forward, he will get more than 11 minutes a game on average.

I thought the MPG included missed games as 0, am I wrong on this assumption?

Yes, you are wrong in that assumption. MPG is only based off actual games played. So injuries and DNP's don't factor in.
