Which is just asinine if you ask me. What would that mean for Mathews? I don't think they would settle for less.

If you don't think Nic is worth the max, and he WILL get it, you better hope Neil makes a push for Butler this summer.

There are so few shooting guards right now. Wes is going to get paid.

Is this year the best our team will be, if Wes leaves? Man the guy seems so huge for us always, I can't see us replacing him easily..

Wes is going to get a substantial pay increase and would have been inline for a nice contract even without the new TV deal in place. Agents are savy and will have figured out how the cap will be expected to increase over the next few years and that is going to play into every multiyear deal we will see this off season. They may structure it so the salary starts off low then increases drastically so teams wont feel so bad about the cap hit the first few years but regardless of how the contract is structered we are going to see money given out that just seems stupidly high this off season. Kind of like when Mike Bibby and Juwan Howard were getting 100m contracts.

That can't work bro. They average each year together. The rising is only a financial thing, not cap savings

You sure? The Morris brothers contracts have a big first year small second year then bigger third/fourth year. Theres been talk that it makes their contracts easy to move in year two.

Yeah I'm pretty sure. I'm not Brian or others pretty savvy with the cap restrictions. So maybe asking them would be better

This summer could either be great, or really really bad for us.

Rolo is going to get paid.

Wes is going to get paid.

LA is going to get paid.

Dame will get a max extension in another year. Nic is probably going to get a huge contract as well. Hopefully Paul is on board, because we could easily have all five starters making over 10-12 million per year.

Great, So the whole starting 5 will be maxed out pretty much!

Probably not maxed out, but most likely making a ton of money. We have one of the best starting fives in the league. We're going to have to pay for it.

wes will be the new nic. completely polarizing after the new contract.

Are we still polarized over Nic's contact? I can't see how anyone could still think we overpaid for him. His production is much better than larger contracts that have been signed subsequently around the league.

Paging Mr. Roytoy.

He was pretty damn good in the playoffs too.

my guess is for the better players we will see a lot of player options after the second yr, therefore these players still get the benefit of a 4 or 5 yr guarantee in case they get injured, but they can still opt out assuming the players union does end the current contract in 2-3 yrs, then they can renegoiate higher pay

Max contract now will look like a bargain compared to the max in 2 to 3 years.

Ya and to most people that will be considered a turn off! Players make enough money as it is.

The most important figure in all this could be someone were not thinking of. If Chris McGowan can show Paul Allen a profit by maxing out all these guys and show him how, I think Paul buys in. This wouldn't have been a discussion 14 years ago but it is now with Paul being real concerned about going into luxury tax territory.

Re: Jeff Van Gundy thinks Jimmy Butler will get 12 mill a year when he resigns next y

Hiring the cap threshold to help out the smaller markets will only backfire on the NBA. Most people will frown upon it once they see how much more money these players will make.
