and rumor of the Euro center we may be pursuing, and we should do an ANT trade#UnleashBadji
more like "indecent", overpaid like most Blazers recent contractsI think it’s a decent deal.
That's what people have been saying since Cronin took over, right?I don’t think much of anything seems pretty clear until we see what happens with trades and exceptions.
That was one of the few signings I liked--having Hart and GP2 both available in a playoff seems obviates 2 of the bigger weaknesses our team had. That's what people have been saying since Cronin took over, right?
The Payton signing STILL doesn't make sense, although I am delighted we got some picks out of it.
Maybe it will all make sense as we lie on our death beds, looking back at the Cronin regime.
Busy day. Just catching up. This is not great but it certainly could be worse.
It will be fine because its backloaded. Cba will kick in and this will not be an albatross.
But we need more.
He’s making about 7 mil too much per year, but with the cap going up and up and up, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this considered a decent contract in year 3,4 and 5
it is an overpay, but as long as grant is healthy the contract won’t be an albatross.
Dame is the greatest Blazer ever, trading him after overpaying for an average wing, instead of just moving both of them would be a mistake and make no sense. Bringing up every bad move ever made isn’t necessary, every single statement made in a sports forum doesn’t need to be taken literally to the point we are talking about 40-45 years ago. It would be MASSIVELY stupid and considering it involves the franchises best player ever it would rank very high. No one gives a shit about overpaying a bunch of scrubs in 2016 and fucking our cap compared to dealing the best player ever after signing his buddy. Grant makes zero sense at his age compared to the rest of the roster if Dame is not also on the team.
I don’t know what Houston is doing.Van Vleet just got 3/130. I’m not unhappy.

no, fvv went to the Rockets, didn't stay with Toronto..... who now need a PG.FVV at 3 and $130? That’s like … a crap ton … $43+ million per?!
And they have GTJ (UFA in a year) at SG and paid up for Poeltl at $20 million per and OG and Siakam as UFA in a year … with Siakam reportedly chasing teams away … and their future — Scottie Barnes.
I’m going to guess the iceberg is thawing.

Already seen as a plus at the defensive end, Grant has steadily grown into a reliable scorer and shooter; his 5.7 3-point attempts per game last season was also a career high. He was one of the top wings on the market this offseason.
It will make sense if the Blazers make it past the first round of the playoffs. That's what people have been saying since Cronin took over, right?

Their 3-point shooting won't get any better. Last season they were 28th in that category.I know. Masai apparently thinks Scottie Barnes can play PG
And his upcoming costs are going to suck.
He's going to play the 4 for the Blazers, though, right?I hadn't seen this until I read the ESPN report:
Maybe. We'd have to ask if we'd have done it without him on the team, and we'd have to consider that we'll be paying him a LOT of money when he's 34+ years old. I'm not willing to give up the future to make it into the second round... fortunately we haven't done that with our last couple of lottery picks, and we shouldn't be doing it with re-signing our current players, either. It will make sense if the Blazers make it past the first round of the playoffs.
the per year number is fine for me. Probably starts around 27 mil.I'm not so sure. We could have had cap space next season.. we are currently sitting at about $10m in practical cap space in 2024-25, and without that $30m being added we could have had a chance to make a splash next summer OR to take contracts on for additional value, etc. Now those options are just about dead to us.
It helps on the floor, of course, and it keeps Dame happy, evidently, and Portland seems unwilling to add ANY big guys so... who knows?

jerami ends up with the largest total $ contract on day 1 of the 2023 FA.
quick question: who were we bidding against?
I don't think the Grant deal has any impact in the Dame situation.Dame is staying. That's all I care about.
Grant still needs to be taken in context to changes in the salary cap coming up.

Grant has shown in the past that he cares more about money than winning. He just got his BIG bag today. Nothing more, nothing less.
