Its original and all his stuff, but a compilation album (which is why it was released in '94). There's a bunch of unreleased recordings on it and I thought it was pretty good. It shows a bluesy side of Hendrix you don't really get from his other albums, which are more psychedelic. There's a recording of 'Hear My Train a Coming" that he plays with an acoustic guitar, which I thought was pretty cool. Can't really say if its worth buying, though, since I downloaded it. But if you're collecting his stuff like me, its worth grabbing.

im more than just a little late on this but whatever.. ill offer my sentiments.
this album is probably the greatest hendrix album there is outside of Bold As Love. hell it cant be argued as one of the greatest electric blues albums of all time. i mean its just sickening that someone was that masterful at their instrument. with this he takes everything you thought you knew about the blues and turns it on its ear. hopefully you got this because its a must have for any music lover on earth

I figure this is a pretty appropriate thread to bring this up: is anybody else absolutely addicted to Hendrix's live albums? I think I've "acquired" almost every recorded performance out there over the past year or so.

good man. ive got the dvds of woodstock and monteray pop. woodstock is a must have. that 10 min or so improv session is some of the best musicianship ever recorded imo. live at the fillmore east is something else i need. some of those tracks are ridiculous. =

I picked up the Woodstock DVD this past summer. That was an awesome watch.
"Live at Fillmore East" is worth picking up. I personally like it more than "Band of Gypsies." The sound quality is much better and its got so much more material (2 CD's worth). Some of the tracks on the 2nd CD got so much soul, and I love the version of "Stone Free."
