Jimmy Butler wants out? (He does.) (1 Viewer)

Yeah. I, too, would’ve hated having Michael Jordan in his prime. Well documented that he made life for his teammates a living hell and was quite the sourpuss.

I didn’t care about Jimmy UNTIL this episode today. He’s exactly what we, and about 27 other teams, need.

Someone with a set of balls - which clearly weren’t present vs the Pelicans last year.

We got Isiah Rider from the Wolves and made the WCF. Butler is a better version, would make the season very interesting if we could get him.

Otherwise we have little hope of contention and more likely to consider when a trade CJ/Dame rebuild stategy should be explored.

I'd rather risk the first scenario even if it could go south.

Some of y'all are out of your minds. What universe do we live in when a guy who is disrespectful to his co-workers and bosses while being late for work and making public demands to leave, and then immediately has a sit down interview to air all the dirty laundry to the public is regaled as a hero? Keep this nutcase the fuck away from our squad

America 2018.

Perhaps force the Wolves to trade him sooner and lower his trade value so new team keeps more talent.
Telling the GM, “you need me”, how does that make the GM want to trade you...? Thats such a weird thing to tell to someone you want to trade you...

Don’t believe me. Couldn’t care less.
Hey I actually believe you that he’s not a good dude, and that you have some proof of it but dont want to put some of the ‘proof’ out there.

Like I said earlier, I dont think Id want Jimmy to be the face of the franchise, but if Jimmy came here itd be Dames team.
Also I think Portland needs to take a risk if the goal is to compete with gs and Houston.

I dont really approve of this whole charade he’s putting on but he is really good...

So you’re a GM and want to save your job and you want to hitch your wagon to Jimmy Butler whos a world class punk who will leave in a year. Logical.
This is a good point. It could be career suicide for a GM thats on the bubble like NO is (I think)...

Trading CJ would be hitch. Trading Turner no... Yes need to consider Butler a possible only one year rental and only give up assets accordingly.

Butler is very very good. I would say the likelihood of him changing his mind and staying in Portland and being a model citizen would be 4% max. Unless he were to at the very least communicate his willingness to stay here beyond a year (which is meaningless but it’s something) I wouldn’t touch him.

The fact that he’s still in MN speaks volumes about what the league thinks of him.

Yes but it could also say a lot about Minnesota’s management too.

Butler def has the mentality of.
You play how you practice.
Sad that the third stringers for Minn practice at a higher level than the stars/starters.

Which is actually part of why this type of stuff he’s doing is so, odd... It doesnt make anyone look good. Him, the GM, the Coach, the other players. He’s putting a lot of other guys in a bad spot, not a good look in my opinion.

He doesn’t give a shit about any of those people.

I believe this was a reference to MIN trying to low ball him when they eagerly gave Wiggins and KAT max extensions. I think this is the root of this whole shit show in MIN. Butler saw the two young guys who don't play defense and don't really seem to be committed to winning get paid when MIN wasn't willing to make that same level of financial commitment to him. He's basically telling Layman, you need me to be competitive, you shouldn't have tried to low ball me.

BNM

Just think about the following scenario:

*Neil trades Dame's best friend on the team for Butler*

-Butler to Dame: "HELLO LILLARD, I'M JIMMY BUTLER! I'LL SHOW YOU HOW TO WIN, THIS IS MY TEAM NOW,YOU CAN'T WIN WITHOUT ME, CUZ I'M A WINNER! I'M JIMMY BUTLER!
*turns around*
HEY YOU, THE GUY WITH THE FUNNY ACCENT, WHY YOU SO SLOW ON FAST BREAKS? SO WHAT IF YOU'RE 7 FOOT TALL?! MOVE YOUR ASS!! I'M JIMMY BUTLER!"

Dame: "The fuck just happened this week?!"

Come back to me when Jimmy gets out of the second round.Do whatever the fuck you want when you're the GOAT. When you're an oft injured 30 yr old bully who hasn't won shit, you don't get to pull these stunts.

It's just funny Jimmy thinks of himself as a winner. WTF does he know about winning?

He just comes off as needy, saying : "It's about saying we need you. We want you here, we can't do this without you.....it made me think like maybe I'm not important to your organization."

Comparing this guy to MJ? GTFO.

Hell, if arguably one of the best players to *ever* play is available, you trade for him. Alas, Jimmy is not one of the best player to ever play.

After reading the entire interview he did last night; I get the impression that he might still be staying with them. He talks about thinking that Thibs is happy as hell afterwards cuz Jimmy is back. And he talks a lot about being wanted, and for him the way to show that is more money. I don't even know if they can do this, but if Minnesota can still jettison Dieng and offer Butler a big new contract right now, I think he takes it.

But also, if Minnesota doesn't do that; I think that if Portland traded for him; gave up good assets for him; let him know they were going to pay the max no matter how much it hurt them financially, made him feel wanted by teammates and team personnel, that he would stay in Portland.
