Jimmy Butler wants out? (He does.)

We only know that OKC gave up a good assets because of hindsight. Consensus was they got an underachieving SG as a PF with minimal upside.
Sabonis was a lotto pick and many on this board were high on him. I dont remember him having minimal upside. Tbh, I was higher on him (and still am) than Collins.

Oladipo has exploded into an all star, but I'd say he was considered better than anyone on our current roster outside of dame or CJ at the time. It wasnt like he put up bad numbers in Orlando or okc. He was highly regarded coming out of school and proved himself as a fine starter.

You can't go consecutive years without future 1sts and you can only trade future 1sts up to a certain year (Currently, it's either 2024 or 2025)
thanks for the clarification. So I guess my comment on that is, thats a really risky proposition if things dont to well you could be brooklyn in a couple years.

I mean...... if OKC offered us (then) Oladipo/Sabonis for Turner/Aminu/Trent/Simons/Baldwin I would take it in a heartbeat.

*I know this trade only exists in an alternate reality where OKC never traded Oladipo and Sabonis.

Fair enough.

If we do try trade for him then it should include Turner and another player name. Dame CJ Nurk Collins is off the table in this trade. Due to Butler might jump ship after this season.

Turner and another mediocre Blazers player.... you might get a set of used cuisinarts for that. :drumroll:

Can we trade 4 future 1sts? 2019, 2021, 2023, 2025? Along with Turner? I know it's 6 or 7 years of picks you can trade.

Does MIN look at that? That'd be a tough trade to turn down IMO.

I’d never do that anyway.

I would trade CJ and two conditional first round picks for Jimmy Butler. He's about the same offensively but he's a lock down defender for multiple positions. We would be an elite defensive team with him and we're already elite offensively. I realize that there is the risk involved that he could be a one year rental but if Russ can sell Paul George, Dame can definitely sell Jimmy Butler.

Why would you ADD assets to CJ if you were going to trade for him? CJ is worth more than Butler under current circumstances.

Why? It's worth it. Top 5 to 10 protected, and if everything backfires, tank and keep the picks. We can always trade cash to get into the 2nd round and trade up future 2nd for picks as well. I don't see why not.

Guys, seriously: If you're Jimmy Butler and you've watched how the Blazers got completely DESTROYED the playoffs, would you seriously consider this team?

Let's see...

Brooklyn: Missed the playoffs
Clippers: Missed the playoffs
Knicks: Missed the playoffs

Yep, I'm sure the fact that the team lost in the 1st round rather badly is why he's not wanting to come to Portland.

I definitely wouldn't trade CJ for him. He's not nearly the scorer, I don't like him much and he never reached any team success. But I guess anyone besides the big 3 for him would be ok for me, but he's definitely not a favorite of mine

He's just an ugly player. gets his points somehow, is maybe a good defender. but he isn't fun to watch and I don't think he's fun to root for. just another player gettting too much hype

I disagree with the lists, but nearly all of them rank him above Dame. Hell, I think PG is a better player but Jimmy is getting more credit these days.

How's Butler not nearly the scorer? Not only does Butler score at a higher clip, he's also much more efficient with his scoring.

Per 36 stats last year:
JB - 21.7ppg on 59.0 TS%
CJ - 21.3ppg on 53.6 TS%

So what outta that opinion based on?

Butler is better than CJ at everything except for 3pt shooting. He's the far superior player.

No. Not willing to trade our future (four first round picks?) in the random hope that Butler decides he likes it here and stays.

No. No, No, No.
Its much more likely we win a championship by landing Jimmy Butler than by holding on to mediocre draft picks. I don't understand how four Justin Jackson/Bam Adebeyo/John Collins type players are superior to the chance of adding Jimmy Butler to our core long-term. We'd have protections to that we could tank and keep our picks for down the road. Gotta do something at some point, and refusing to trade picks for a borderline top 10 player would be a mistake. Toronto traded their franchise player, a lottery pick, and another pick for Kawhi Leonard...
