Carter secured funding to start US Holocaust Museum. More important than ever with increasing scapegoating and many school districts banning teaching about the Nazi Holocaust because it makes white people uncomfortable.

I give Carter credit for saying Israeli leadership was far more to blame than Hamas.
 
My biggest issue with Carter's presidency was when he tried to fix the economy by voting Taiwan out of the UN to gain favor with mainland China and their cheap labor and millions of consumers..Taiwan is still trying to get UN membership today.
 
Critics have it both ways. He was soft! He did too much!

The CIA did Panama, Taiwan, and the Shah. The first two were in the bag during the Ford presidency. Khomeini was a spare leader. Western intelligence funds a couple for each country in case of need.

The fact that we go on with our lives with the same people leading this country who not only murdered a democratically elected president, but have been hiding that fact for decades, is why the current system can't continue for much longer.
 
Trump announced plan to crash President Carter's funeral because of course. It is absolutely not in his nature to sit quietly and respectfully while others speak words of praise to someone not him. What will he do to make himself center of attention?

I can honestly say I have never been to a former president's funeral on acid.

Trump is mightily pissed about flag at half staff, which he erroneously calls half mast. (Half mast refers only to the flag on ships.) The Democrats have done it on purpose! The idea of honoring a great man is beyond his comprehension since he doesn't consider anyone but himself great.
 
Petty Republican county administrator is refusing to fly flag at half staff because he won't honor a Democrat.

His ex wife is now married to Paul McCartney. Talk about trading up.
 
Watching the funeral before work (didn't realize it was today). And as I turn it on, they're having someone who resembles what Garth Brooks would've looked like had he started spray painting his hair, singing "Imagine" by John Lennon.

While it's a beautiful song, I'm not really sure how it plays at a funeral...in a church. Considering it's a song about life without materialism, countries and religion.

Wish the politics came out of it for the sake of the humanity he brought to everyone.

I get it he's a president but Biden and all need to not do subtle digs during this time.

Yeah that song doesn't fit in this scenario in its totality. In bits it can, but not totality.
 
I understand Carter was a Christian and had a Christian funeral. I have no problem with that. But singing Imagine gave something to the rest of us. He was a Christian but he was also an American president. Citizen of the world. Not all of us are Christians.

If honoring Carter hurts someone's fragile feelings that reflects their lack of honor.

I agree - I like the song but I'm not sure that I would have chosen it to honor a man who lived by the credo God, Family, Country!

He didn't live by that conservative hierarchy. He lived by, love thy neighbor. Gently bringing sides together, not structured dogma.

I always thought Karen Pence was the perfect Stepford wife but the way she cut Trump and HIS Stepford wife off cold earned her a lot of respect from me. Her husband on the other hand is still the shameless sycophant and doormat he was as vice president......

Yep. I'd love it if just once "Mother" Pence would grab Mike by the gonads and force him to act like he had some self respect. I just don't get how anyone can tolerate a partner who is into self abasement and public humiliation. If that's the definition of "Christianity" I'll go down swinging........
