Joe the Plumber isn't a plumber.

No, because I'm not that confident. I just know it isn't the blow-out that has been reported lately, and with ACORN being sued in 15 states and their registrations now being scrutinized, I believe it is a dead heat. And "my friends" tell me I am correct.

Have you considered the possibility that "your friends" might be lying to you? That they might have good reason to lie?

It's not plausible that all of the public polls are wrong, and that "your friends" have some secret way of knowing the truth.

Losing campaigns always claim their internal polls show a closer race than the public polls. And then they lose.

Could be. Let's wait and see.

How many more civilians will the Obama media have to smear before November 4th? Any bet that this is the last unscripted Q and A we'll see from Obama prior to the vote?

Attack a hard-working citizen who dared to question Obama.

An interesting tactic by the Dems, especially in a swing-state like Ohio.

I can't say I understand this line of attack. The guy works for a plumber, wants his own license, and wants to start a business. Seems like the American dream; instead, he is being attacked.

Odd because there are millions of people just like him who have a decision to make over the next few weeks.

Look, if he makes 250K, GREAT FOR HIM! His taxes will go up a little yes, but he will still be making a TON of money. It's not like the slight tax increase ruins his dream. I made 500K last year and I'm fine with paying more taxes than people who make 60K. Seriously.

Joe the Plumber is being more vigorously vetted by the media than Barack Obama.

I actually know more about Joe the Plumber's history after one day than I know about Obama.

God Bless Amurrrrica.

Then I guess you didn't read his TWO books.

Again, that's not the point. The point is a small business owner has employees to pay, insurance to provide, etc. etc.

Listen again to the question that was asked.

I'll put 1K on Obama. Put up or shut up.

I'll shut up. I didn't make $500k last year, I didn't follow the team around for a month on a fantasy tour, and I have kids to provide for that I hope to give a head start for college in the future.

Tax rates matter to me, and I'll be giving up the $1k if Obama wins anyhow. Congrats on your earnings last year.

Did the media smear Joe the Plumber? Or did they just report the truth about Joe the Plumber?

This is how I see it and I don't quite understand Joe's beef.

Apparently Joe has enough money to buy a company for 250K. And he is concerned that he will bring in more than 250K so his taxes will go up. Well has Joe figured out he can deduct all employee costs. Heck he can just make his salary 200K/yr and that should suck the profits right out of that small business.

And if he can pay himself 200K/yr for running a plumbing business and not even be a certified plumber . . . that fool better not complain about giving some back to the country that made all that possible.

I believe what Joe is concerned about is that he is punished for success. A valid criticism of a cascading taxation system.

I believe "making $250K" means $250K net profits...i.e. after costs, like paying employees.

Mind you, I'm not 100% certain on that, but I believe that's what I recall being reported about Obama's tax plan.

You are aware of how the lending industry, right? It's not like he'll just plunk down $250k for a business. And the rest of your post is way off base as well.

Has anyone else ever been in a family that owned a small business? My Dad had over 20 employees and never brought home over $100k/year for himself.

The ignorance is striking to me. Oh well, we'll all have to wake up soon enough.

Then I guess you didn't read his TWO books.

Or watch any of the 1,580 videos his campaign has posted in youtube, or read any of his plans that he has put on his website, or watched the documentary on Obama that MSNBC did.

When a guy has 2 autobiographies, 1,580 videos posted on his campaign's youtube channel, tons of plans posted on his website, and a documentry done by a major news network, you just ain't looking if you think Obama wasn't vetted.

How is Joe punished?

If Joe can bring home 250K/yr, then yes he is punished. But Joe ain't bring home 250K/yr and his company isn't going to have net profits of over 250K . . . so what's Joe's complaint?

Joe is stressed out on life, wants to buy a company he has no business running at a time banks aren't lending and needs to bitch about this to somebody. Joe has had his 15 minutes of fame, his time is done, now let's fix this country's problems.

He is punished because as his salary increases, he gets to take a smaller percentage of his money home. Who's to say he won't ever make $250k? The thing is, if he's being punished for making that much, why even try? Just become one with the masses of mediocre, in a socialist society where wages are the same, no one innovates and the means of production are controlled by the government.

Joe the Not-A-Plumber is a worthless, lazy POS, who tries to dodge responsibility in every phase of his life it seems.

A traitor for not paying his taxes already, an illegal and unlicensed worker (despite taking taxpayer-funded schooling to get licensed) who will probably do a half-ass job on some old lady's plumbing and leave her with no toilet, and no legal recourse because he's unlicensed, uninsured, unbonded...

McCain sure knows how to pick his team.

Sounds like he would thrive in a socialist culture, so maybe he should vote for Obama.

Obama went up to Joe.

Joe asked him a question.

Joe didn't ask for this 15 minutes of fame, and the media's reaction to him tells me Obama is in deep shit over his answer.

Aren't you exaggerating just a bit? Having progressive tax rates is not the same thing as everyone's wages being the same. The guy who makes $250K will still have more money than the guy who doesn't.

When you have a redistribution of wealth, eventually the system will lead to something on that plane. It may not be immediate, but the speed as to how fast this country became socialist is frightening.

Substitute "Obama" for "Joe the Not-A-Plumber" and I wouldn't know the difference. Well, one difference is that "Joe the Not-A-Plumber" hasn't been suckling at government's teet to build a fortune for the last decade and a half.

Not everyone is committed to taking things to ridiculous extremes. Obama is not a Libertarian, after all.

Eh...bad wording. I don't mean he SHOULD get a tax cut, I mean he should be one of the people that get a tax cut under Obama's tax plan.

Why?

And why, if his business makes over $250k/year, should he pay more.

What is he paying for?

You wouldn't, I guess.
One difference: Obama has released his tax returns, so we know he's been paying taxes.

Obama made most of his money selling the books you haven't read, not via his government jobs.
