Which video? I like the Mars Volta and think they're awesome. Definitely not as cookie cutter as the Red Hot Chili Peppers. In fact the Red Hot Chili Peppers helped the TMV to become a band. Flea played bass on their first album.

:biglaugh: thank you for the laugh about the thread reminder in this trying time. On that note.. I do actually like the Mars Volta I dont know which song that is though. But they opened for the Chili Peppers last time.. they didnt sound that great in the Rose Garden though, they are more of a small building sound with how much they have going on all the time.

I take back what I said then. I like the RHCP :ghoti:

I still feel pain from the day Joe Walsh 'walked away" from The James Gang back in '71.

Stadium Arcadium was sadly above average commercialized garbage, better then most thats out today, but still crap compared to their best days. Same can be said for tons of artists, Green Day, Ice Cube, Snoop and so on.

Music today, especially the mainstream is utter garbage and a insult to be called music.

You playing "How Deep Is Your Love"? You have no choice. You must.

Man, the James Gang. That brings up some memories...

By the way, that has to be the finest music video ever. It captures the essence of the multimedia experience back in those days.

You got the screwup in there and everything!!!

Good job DaRizzle. Takes balls.

I learned this song on guitar a couple years ago. Fun stuff. I played it in front of my church 2 years ago for a Christmas thingy.

This was always one of my favorite Frusciante fan made vids. I remember spending hours a day trying to learn every one of these a couple years back. Ah, how times change.

Loved that one!

I guess he's "THE" HCP (Hot Chilli Pepper) now.

Bravely done. Not well done, but bravely done. I'd rep you if I could.

You got balls.

Sadly, you also sing better than half the mother fuckers who are rich and famous.

lol....i almost took that video down last night, thanks for not totally ripping me....I think I might have to put some more effort into learning it and post another video

Hmm.. I heard he might be back. Let me try to find something on it (it is on youtube, lol).

F my life!

"When I quit the band, over a year ago, we were on an indefinite hiatus. There was no drama or anger involved, and the other guys were very understanding. They are supportive of my doing whatever makes me happy and that goes both ways.

To put it simply, my musical interests have led me in a different direction. Upon rejoining, and throughout my time in the band, I was very excited about exploring the musical possibilities inherent in a rock band, and doing so with those people in particular. A couple of years ago, I began to feel that same excitement again, but this time it was about making a different kind of music, alone, and being my own engineer.

I really love the band and what we did. I understand and value that my work with them means a lot to many people, but I have to follow my interests. For me, art has never been something done out of a sense of duty. It is something I do because it is really fun, exciting, and interesting. Over the last 12 years, I have changed, as a person and artist, to such a degree that to do further work along the lines I did with the band would be to go against my own nature. There was no choice involved in this decision. I simply have to be what I am, and have to do what I must do.

Sending love and gratitude to you all."

however honestly this site wasnt working 2 days ago and this is all the site has. Maybe I'm still in the denial stage of grief though.

Some things to keep hope alive...

1. There IS a rumor that he is back in the band
2. That blog seems to not be written by John, because that is definitely not the type of wording he uses in my opinion. (I mean, it COULD be, but I doubt it unless he had someone else write it for him)...

I don't think it is 100% official yet, but i'm also in denial. Either way, it isn't like he is dying. He is still going to make music. I'm sure he will still sometimes collaboriate with Flea and Chad. I bet they will do a mini album together, at least him and flea... maybe Jazzy! That would be cool.

Either way, I love John. He is one of my two favorite guitarists, and for the past couple of years i've had him in my top 10 best guitarists of all-time. I definitely think he deserves it... Mother's Milk had that punk/funk/metal guitar solo's, BSSM had a funky/rock/own style solo's, Californication had less is more, same with By the Way, which had a classical and mellow hint to it, and then Stadium Arcadium was one of the better albums of guitar work/solo's i've heard in a while. On top of that, his live jams and improvisations are, in my opinion, unmatched in this day in age. Really reminds me of Hendrix on his improvisations (IMO what John does best). And of course, his solo stuff has incredible guitar work.

RIP Chili Pepper John (Most likely). New chapter time! I really want him to release an auto-biography! Scar Tissue was incredible by AK.

I agree.. I'm glad it isnt like death.. just to me John Is a portion of the Chili Peppers (I Love the pre Mothers Milk stuff, but I wasnt alive when it was made, so to me John is more of a member in my mind. no offense to Hillel) Them playing Live together will be what I miss most I think. Their chemistry seems just so natural and beautiful together. I think I will miss how every note John plays, looks like its hurting his heart. There is so much passion for the music and love for it. Honestly I feel kinda numb today, I still love John and love his solo stuff. But man oh man the Chili's have been such a HUGE part of my life since about 8th grade when Californication came out. I didnt get to know the earlier stuff until after that, as I was too young when the other stuff came out. Scar Tissue is the most amazing story I have read.. honestly at the end of the book when AK said something like "Everytime I feel like I want or need to get high... I just take a look at my dog Buster, and remember 'he has never seen me high'" to me it was just a perfect way to end that book and wrapped up all the emotions in it perfectly.

I'll take any good denial news I can get.. where did you hear that?

I definitely liked the Chili Pepper music (John) more than his solo music/guitar work. But if it makes him happy, whatever, ya know? He will still put out music, though it is disappointed since i'm not too big of a fan of his solo stuff (though I like it, and love some songs -- mainly up until like 2001 with a few good songs scattered throughout the rest).

Oh well... such is life. They were getting old, and they weren't going to be together much longer anyway. I don't think they were going to be like the rolling stones, and you could tell that the long world tour they took for Stadium Arcadium wasn't sitting well with John at all. This would probably have been their last album, but it would have been nice to know "This is our last album together! BUY IT and see us for a farewell tour!".

It was just all over YouTube, with a ton of people saying "Good news, John is back in the band" and the like. I don't think it has too much validity, but w/e.

Oh man To Record Only Water For 10 Days was his first album I heard.. I fell in love with it! And yeah I agree that this probably would have been their last album together. I guess just in my mind I had always envisioned or hoped that they would end it together I guess.. plus I would have loved to see John and Flea jam before Californication one last time lol. But you are right, if he is happy then I'm happy for him, as much as it sucks for the RHCP and all their fans. I hope that youtube stuff is right lol. Also Jayremmie.. I am glad to see that someone else appreciates John the same way I do... sometimes I dont think many people get what I am talking about with his greatness, but you seem to get it
