Kent started with the Trail Blazers in 2016 as Television Studio Host alongside Michael Holton, filled in as Television Play-By-Play Broadcaster during the NBA restart in Orlando in 2020 and was named Television Play-By-Play for the 2020-21 season.

“We’re extremely thankful for the hard work, dedication and passion Jordan has put into his roles with the Trail Blazers,” said Chris McGowan, President and CEO of the Trail Blazers and Rose Quarter. “He brought a wealth of basketball knowledge and experience to the organization and we wish him nothing but the best as he continues in his career.”

I didnt see the other threads and this thread is a out a new tv contract. Not Blazers announcers. I didnt click in here for my thread because they are two different topics?

Should have its own thread for those who want to discuss the Blazers announcers without sifting through tv contract negotiation conversations?

I'm judging Calabro as one of the two voices on the broadcast. Tone, inflection, emphasis, focus, humor, analysis, over-hyping....I found him lacking in all those areas. Doesn't make a difference if he's play-by-play or color

When Bob Whitsitt hired Kevin Calabro from the Kansas City-Omaha Kings, no one in Seattle complained that he was hiring another NBA team's play-by-play announcer. I remember it well.

Calabro is not originally a "Seattle guy."

He belongs to the same masonic temple as Koldie and Softy

Calabro is a familiar voice to Seattle area fans. Getting ad and sponsorship revenue from two major markets is better than from just Portland.

And I agree about Hurd. Not a fan.

Might as well pair him with Palin for the Alaska fans.

The Blazers are focusing on fans from Washington and Alaska and alienating fans in Oregon.

ESPN's Mark Jones called all Kings games this year (while also working nationally televised games on ESPN/ABC). He would be my top choice. Easily my favorite announcer in the league right now. Doris and Hubie would be excellent as well, but I don't think Hubie calls as many games as he used to.

I wasn't in love with Kent either but Calabro bugs me. He's too in love with the sound of his voice and periodically goes on weird tangents that he thinks are amusing but are in fact painful to listen to.

Yup.... I don't know... I think Dame's range took a hit after some of his injuries after the all-star game. He didn't seem to have the same power on the deep deep shots.

Just how is it that you feel alienated? I sure don't. It seems to me that it's fans that are doing the alienating of things....the moving schtick about Seattle....the front office valet parking...on and on....Stotts coached McMillan in Seattle and McMillan played for the Sonics....didn't see all this stuff back then....hiring from the PNW is a local hire in my view...all the rest of this is just gossip fodder....comparing Kevin Calabro to Sarah Palin? Really? Jordan Kent is a local...that doesn't make me want to listen to him and hiring him isn't building a bigger fanbase.. If I'm really needing to see a game I can always go to a sports bar as well.
