Not too happy about a play-in against Golden State...

I wonder if Silver pulls some strings to get LA vs GS in the play in. That is a ratings monster.

I realize we will not be favored against any of the top teams, but I still think it would be advantageous to avoid the LA teams if we have any chance of an upset in the first round. I would love to see a Laker-Clipper 6-3 matchup in the first round so that one of them is gone early.

Can we stop with the conspiracy theories? It was fun on the X-Files, but what havoc it has wrought since.

Think of it as a Wesley-Batum matchup.

Who gives a fuck

lose to the warriors and you have to beat a below .500 Spurs team or a grizzlies team that shouldn’t even be competitive with this squad

Don’t get all the whining

anything can happen yea great but if u can’t win 1 game against a shit grizzlies team u probably aren’t gonna do much in the playoffs anyhow

I guess I missed the whining part of this thread. But I did know someone would post a response like you just did. It was inevitable.

How could anyone watch the series last year and not think there isn't some bullshit with this corporate run league. We literally couldn't touch Anthony Davis in the playoffs. Couldn't breath on him without getting a foul. He was basically untouchable. It completely swung the series. The league is a joke. I don't know why I keep watching it honestly.

You really think that the league isn't heavily biased towards certain teams and certain players? Did you watch the Kings/Lakers playoffs in the early 2000s????
Seems to me if you REALLY believed this, you wouldn't care about the NBA.

I do REALLY believe this, but I just keep hoping that maybe Dame will get the love that the NBA has afforded to other superstars.... but so far, nope.

First of all, my comment was tongue in cheek. Second, you're naiive if you think this isn't on the league's mind. Whether they actually act on it is another matter. David Stern is quoted saying his ideal matchup is Lakers v Lakers. This isn't THAT far fetched

If I'm being honest, the way the league handled our conference finals and the Kings in the early 2000s really did hurt my love for the game. I used to be a HUGE fan. Lived and breathed NBA basketball. But after watching the favoritism and ridiculous reffing for 20 years, my love has greatly diminished.

imagine trying to get the 6th seed only to play the la clippers lol

truth be told, this team is destined for the first round exit, so it doesnt matter wh0 we play against (jazz, suns, clippers or nuggets)

I guess I missed the part where i said “in this thread” that had about 5 posts.

you haven’t seen LeBron whine about it?

you haven’t seen the media covering other players whining about it?

I knew someone who can’t read would put words in my mouth/post that I didn’t say, like u did.

Yup. I think the league got burned with horribly low ratings on the Nets/Spurs finals and they haven't really allowed another snorefest finals since then.

Neither NJ or SA are small markets, although SA is a bit of an asterisk depending on what data you go by.

The problem those Finals had was a boring match-up and resulting play.

No strings needed anyway. Just need the Blazers to win tonight and their next 2, and then the Lakers will be hard-pressed to pass them.

And personally, I'd love to see the Lakers and Warriors as the 7 & 8 seeds. Enjoy your prizes, Utah and Phoenix!

Fair enough. I did read it wrong.

Pretty sure the Blazers end up in 6th if they win tonight.
Not sure they want the Clips in the first round, though.

Clippers have really good defenders, Dame will have a brutal series against this team because we all know Stotts is clueless. If the Blazers are smart, they better avoid the Clippers and go in the Playin and rather face the Jazz or Suns. Yeah Jazz are good but not as good as the Clippers who have Superstars and Elite Defenders

Yeah, Clips are a worst case scenario. Like the Pels before, or when we faced Houston with Roy/LMA/Oden. Just not good matchups.

The Suns MIGHT be the best bet as most of their players (besides CP3) have no playoff experience.
I would think Denver is our 2nd best option even though they are on fire right now.

I would definitely rather play Denver. Nurk v Jokic is a good matchup. Obviously Jokic is better, but Nurk gets fired up.

This is another example of what Television and national Media "experts" think about small market teams

I don't get this attitude. The Jazz are genuinely great and DO have superstars. Gobert has been much better than Kawhi this year and Donovan Mitchell was better in the playoffs last year than Paul George. Granted, everyone expects Playoff Kawhi to suddenly appear, but where was he in game 7 against the Nuggets last year?

Besides, Utah ALWAYS kills us.

But let's rank 'em in order of preference anyway.
I say:
Nuggets (they lost a lot when they lost Jamal Crawford, and a bunch of others are injured too. Plus they lean a lot on Porter and will he step up in the playoffs)
Suns (CP3 is bound to get injured)
Clippers (they're fragile - they can go off the rails)
Jazz (although it'd be interesting to see if Nurk and Kanter can get fouls on Gobert)

All of them are better than us, but we could get lucky.
