I have to go on Tuesday. It says on my paper to dress in a manner that shows respect. Will it matter if I go in "don't give a fuck mode" and wear just jeans and sneakers?

It all depends on whom it is you want to show respect for.

They should have specified.

I have a feeling I'll be sitting there for 8 hours for no reason. That's exactly what happened to my mom.

So many jokes, so little time..

Anyways, I think they basically mean don't wear cut offs, torn pants, or show your underwear.

If you want out quickly, go naked.

Dress kind of douchey and look like you're opinionated (or super conservative). Try to stand out a bit. Would you want me on your jury? If you blend in and boring, you'll be in thurrr. :ohno:

if you get selected for voire dire, tell them you have no faith in the legal system and that you think it would make you biased. tell them you hate lawyers with a passion.

Brother I have so much I could type right here............. must....... not........ promised........ DennyCrane..........

I've been on two Jurys in my day. I was the foreman on one and had to deliver our verdict to the judge. One of the most nerve-racking moments of my life. Good fun, though.

I had Jury Duty last year and I wore jeans and sneakers. I just left my baseball (Timbers) cap at home is all.

I was the foreman on a jury in August. The case was pretty boring, and the jury deliberated for about an hour. One ass hole didn't want to convict the guy, and we all had to try to convince him, it was really annoying. But I got 4 paid days off from work, if I didn't get paid for it I would have made up a reason not to serve.

No... it won't matter if it doesn't bother you.

I was on a murder trial that lasted months... thank God my work paid me during... but there were plenty of people who didn't get paid and they still couldn't get out of it.

I have summons at the criminal courts. was supposed to be like a few weeks ago but postponed until july. I'm pretty confident I wouldn't be selected, too opinated in general. I'd be that one guy holding out. :ohno:

I personally think the whole notion of jury duty is retarded. I don't trust a jury of my peers. Americans = idiots.

Well then I guess you are glad you have the option of trial by judge then.

gladly. juries suck. No one wants to be on them. at work we have arbitration agreements. much much cleaner.

heres how you get out of it....

always postpone your date. usually the day you choose is filled and you get excused by calling day before. worked everytime for me.

also when you reschedule ... pick close to a holiday if you can like election day, mon, tues or wed before thanksgiving or week before xmas. it works 90% of time.

and final trick.... if you arent excused after postponing.... call and reschedule again. its almost a 100% they will excuse you as they will be filled.
