He says its a player that has been mentioned before/the bazers have liked. A SF and PG

That actually narrows it down if you think about it....heres a list of east teams with players we might want...

Devin Harris - no way thats gonna happen. Harris and Carter....um it would take a lot.

Richard Jefferson - very possible but i think the bucks need his scoring or else they prob wont win another game. RJ and Sessions or ridnour...prob not much better then what we have.

Loul Deng - Ive always heard the blazers loved this guy. Though they say he and rose are off limits in chi town. Definite improvement with Kirk and Deng.... im sure its possible but too obvious?

Caron Butler - Rice seems to think thats our target as well as myself but will they trade him? i think so.
Butler songlia for outlaw, raef, and sergio? we would need another deal but i love this trade.

Jose Calderon - Basically like harris....prob would want a lot more back and is not likely traded. However...maybe they would throw in moon? Theres your starting PG and backup PF? I doubt it.

Shaun Marion - dont think he would fit here with his attitude BUT hes a great defender and can score. Heat want cap space so maybe MArion and Chalmers for Sergio, Outlaw, Raef? As im typing this...this is becoming the one i think we could be targeting. This or the Butler deal.

deleted Washington isn't trading Butler for scraps. Moon is Toronto's starting SF, not their backup PF, and Heat won't trade Marion AND Chalmers who is playing great for our scraps. Plus Marion is an expiring himself so they might as well keep him.

your the same guy who prob would have posted the same message if you saw the gasol deal proposed last year.

What you dont understand is... being a GM is like a salesman. you have to sell the other team on why they should do it.

First, i said moon can play a little PF for us assuming we lost outlaw. The heat want to move marion...i mean hes been in every trade rumor for months. Chalmers is ok and would def be an add on to the right deal. Im not so crazy. Washington wants to dump their team and rebuild. You are very close minded.

I doubt Washington would give us Caron for nothing. They'd either want Bayless or Fernandez with the players names and I wouldn't be against that. Still very unlikely.

The difference between Gasol and Caron is that the Grizzlies viewed him as an overpaid underwhelming star. Where as Caron has a great deal and is still a young star.

YOU GUYS DONT SEEM TO UNDERSTAND.....THE WIZARDS WANT TO CLEAR CAP SPACE...NOT KEEP IT.

By trading Butler...and getting Raef ...it gives them cap room and a great draft pick next summer. Have you seen teh deals teams have made in the last few years???? This isnt a team thats gonna contend. The sonics traded Allen for a 5th round pick. The Lakers got gasol for KWAME BROWN! It happens all the time. And not to mention...THE WIZ ARE TRYING TO CLEAR CAP SPACE.

agreed...why do so many people expect to get something great for nothing?!? For heaven's sake it's not like eveyone has the "trading savy" of the Memphis Grizzlies...lol

Washington can get a better deal of exp. contract as well as young player and picks from another team...not just an exp and scraps...

Wouldn't it be more plausible for them to trade Jamison then? Caron has a great contract, you don't give up an All-star who is still young with a great contract for scraps.

so now sergio is scraps???

considering the battles ive seen on this site....thats laughable to here he and outlaw are scraps.

just so u know...scraps are guys like randolph and ike and frye....

outlaw and sergio are pieces

butler is the main piece as well as raefs contract.

look... if we cant offer nice pieces for a team who wants to rebuild or clear cap... then im very curious what these other playoff contenders could throw on the table. we have so many tradeable players.

yeah, if it was just about cap space....they would deal Jamison. If they trade Butler, it's because of the fact he can bring back more than just an exp. & crap...

Not to say Mike Miller is at all the same as Butler...but Minnesota wants at least a young player and a pick for Miller and that's thier sticking point.

With Butler's favorable contract, talent and young age...if anything...when they rebuild it will be by getting rid of Jamison and keeping Butler...unless they get a great offer for him....and the exp and crap isn't a great offer!

maybe calling them scraps is harsh...but thier not good enough pieces to work a deal for Butler. I don't think Washington would even talk on the phone for more than 3 minutes unless at least Bayless was part of the deal

im done fighting about this. if all gms thought the way you guys did...they would never make any offers.

in closing...heres what quick said...

We were getting a SF and a PG that would make us a contender for a title.

That eliminates the knicks since they dont have a SF we'd want. i listed every team in the East i thought we could do a deal with. Hawks, Celtics, Magic, Cavs are out. Bobcats Wallace might not play again till next year. If i missed a team or player feel free....but if you go by waht quick said "we were getting a SF and a PG that would make us a contender for a title" then those are our choices whether you believe him or not.

The only argument I might see to this statement is that the type of production Butler provides is more easily replaceable than Jamison's. I mean, Nick Young could play SF and score at a similar rate to Butler given comparable minutes, but they have nobody on that team at PF who could do anything close to what Jamison does. Also, perhaps they believe McGee's game fits better with Jamison's than with Butler's.

That said, I acknowledge that I'm stretching here, and it would seem to make very little sense to trade Butler instead of Jamison.

Awesome! And then they can use that cap space to, if they're lucky, sign a player as good as Caron Butler! Except, players as good as Caron Butler rarely change teams in free agency and almost never go to teams devoid of talent like Washington would be.

So Washington can trade Caron Butler for the cap space to sign a Caron Butler, if they had a hope of signing a Caron Butler in free agency, which they don't. Brilliant.

LOL...no, really...I can't even come up with anything as fitting as that...LOL...awesome

Can someone remind me the last time one of Quicks trade rumours came true... or one of that Mike Rice started?

My mind is failing me because I can't remember a single time.

Washington could be the team, but I think Jamison would be the player they are dealing. He is a tweener, so he could play the 3

And of course MIXUM doesn't respond to this because...well...he has no response.

You win.

the story of the boy who cried wolf comes to mind...

since when is butler in the same league as wade, kobe, and lebron?

did it ever occur maybe they want to build around a different player they feel that they can sign in 2010???? obvioulsy butler, arenas, and jamison arent getting them where they wanna go.

We would't want Marion I predict and Toronto would be foolish to trade Calderon without getting Bayless back. Bosh would certainly jump ship if Toronto plays the salary-dump card.

A bird in hand is worth two in the bush, so to speak. There is going to be intense competition for the really big name free agents that summer and when the pool of suitors outnumbers the free agents, some team is going to be left out in the cold.

I agree the wizards are probably going nowhere with Arenas, Butler, Jamison as their core, but I'm guessing they'll try to move Jamison long before they move Butler.

Really? I would challenge you to find a better expiring cap than Raefs 12 million dollars which is being paid for by insurance, so there is indeed, no payment on it by owner. Its usually a bonus to be getting rid of 12 million dollars off of your cap, but when you don't even have to pay the one year of salary due to insurance covering it, the owners really dig that.

Ummm...next time you try to call me out on a post I wrote...understand what point your argueing. I didn't say a better expiring contract....but a better deal involving young talent and draft picks.....read and understand...then respond...

I'm not saying Raef's contract isn't nice...but if this was only a salary dump...Butler would be the last to go since he has a reasonable contract and is young while playing a high level. It would take more that Raef, Outlaw and Sergio in a deal to pry Butler away. Like I mentioned before...Washington would hang up the phone unless talks started revolving around Bayless and a pick...at least

Well that's part of the problem with forums. What I read said to me you said the expiring contract was not as good as what was out there. Now if you had said the package of Raef, Sergio and Outlaw was inferior to other offers, it would come across clearer. It's all in how you read it.

Maybe you should backup your argument with an example. Saying "that deal sucks, they can get a better one" is kind of weak. Give an example of a better deal. Personally It's why I don't get into trade arguments, I suck at coming up with trades.
