Just a point about the "J. Quick trade rumor"

You left out Marvin Williams...a player POR mgmt has allegedly expressed interest in (there were rumours of POR trying to acquire him before)....and Bibby would certainly be a major upgrade over Blake....

Both are due to be FA this year and chances are very good that ATL loses one, if not both of them in FA for nothing....

its just so stupid... how so many think you have to trade all stars for all stars. Its also insane how so many in this forum think sergio has so much potential yet when we offer him in trades...hes called scarps.

if KP never proposed trades... none could get accepted. There was a time when Gms thought Miles was gonna be a superstar and would have traded for him. Who knows how they feel about sergio or outlaw not to mention raefs contract.

BUt the hawks are gonna be the 4th seed in the east therefore they wanna get better not worst. no chance.

i know they like williams but we just commited to martell.

Really? I would challenge you to find a better expiring cap than Raefs 12 million dollars which is being paid for by insurance, so there is indeed, no payment on it by owner. Its usually a bonus to be getting rid of 12 million dollars off of your cap, but when you don't even have to pay the one year of salary due to insurance covering it, the owners really dig that.

Jason Kidd 21m expiring.

Give me a break Mixum...

You really think that a team with Bayless (or Sergio), Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, Al Horford, Zaza Pachulia with a bench of Outlaw, Frye & Law\Claxton couldn't make the playoffs in the top heavy EC?

I think they could...and they would have some young guys tied up on cheap contracts for a few years and possibly (I haven't checked) cap space to add other players...

Sorry, but for a team that is in financial turmoil.....this deal makes a lot of sense....

not if they wanna WIN in the playoffs.

Ive tried telling people here that sergio and outlaw will never be on a winning playoff team that goes far. They just arent smart players. If you wanna beat the spurs, hornets or lakers.... you arent doing it with those clowns.

Imagine the spurs and blazers in round 1.... they would be licking their chops to get outlaw or sergio in the game lol

and btw....i doubt we trade bayless.

they wanna mover sergio and outlaw...not bayless

not if they wanna WIN in the playoffs.

What, you think they're gonna win in the playoffs with their current roster against the likes of Boston, Orlando, or Cleveland? Very slim chance of them getting very far, and then they'd probably lose some of their key guys for nothing. Best to make a trade, still make the playoffs, and have cheap contracts.

I doubt we trade Bayless too, but I think it makes sense for Atlanta.

heres a gurantee....we wont trade with atlanta. k?

He says its a player that has been mentioned before/the bazers have liked. A SF and PG

That actually narrows it down if you think about it....heres a list of east teams with players we might want...

Devin Harris - no way thats gonna happen. Harris and Carter....um it would take a lot.

Richard Jefferson - very possible but i think the bucks need his scoring or else they prob wont win another game. RJ and Sessions or ridnour...prob not much better then what we have.

Loul Deng - Ive always heard the blazers loved this guy. Though they say he and rose are off limits in chi town. Definite improvement with Kirk and Deng.... im sure its possible but too obvious?

Caron Butler - Rice seems to think thats our target as well as myself but will they trade him? i think so.
Butler songlia for outlaw, raef, and sergio? we would need another deal but i love this trade.

Jose Calderon - Basically like harris....prob would want a lot more back and is not likely traded. However...maybe they would throw in moon? Theres your starting PG and backup PF? I doubt it.

Shaun Marion - dont think he would fit here with his attitude BUT hes a great defender and can score. Heat want cap space so maybe MArion and Chalmers for Sergio, Outlaw, Raef? As im typing this...this is becoming the one i think we could be targeting. This or the Butler deal.

I have never seen or heard KP express any interest in any of these players becoming a Blazer.

Never.

Link?

What about Bibby and the rights to Childress? Can they trade his rights at all?

That is a very good question. I would imagine they can, but I'm not sure why we would do it considering ATL probably won't take him back this summer.

huh? Childress has made it known he doesn't want to be in ATL. I'm sure he would resign with us because he instantly would be our starting SF.

If the Blazers wrangle a trade for Childress it won't happen until after July 1st when the free agency period picks up again, but I can definitely see Atlanta interested in trying to do some kind of sign and trade with somebody so they at least get a little something back for Josh, the alternative is that somebody offers him a deal they don't want to match and up getting nothing, or if they do try to match Childress just balks and goes straight back to Greece -- Atlanta has zero leverage over him at this point.

im done fighting about this. if all gms thought the way you guys did...they would never make any offers.

in closing...heres what quick said...

We were getting a SF and a PG that would make us a contender for a title.

That eliminates the knicks since they dont have a SF we'd want. i listed every team in the East i thought we could do a deal with. Hawks, Celtics, Magic, Cavs are out. Bobcats Wallace might not play again till next year. If i missed a team or player feel free....but if you go by waht quick said "we were getting a SF and a PG that would make us a contender for a title" then those are our choices whether you believe him or not.

Here's the problem with that thinking. Quick doesn't know who is involved, if he did, he would have mentioned who. Kevin Pritchard presumably is the one sprouting off that it would make them a title contender. (Does anyone take this guy's hyperbole seriously anymore?). It's just what Kevin Pritchard thinks would make them a title contender. I think most fans realize that Orlando/Cleveland/San Antonio/Lakers/Boston are all playing at a ridiculous high level, so most fans think that it would take a slam dunk trade, like Lafrentz for Butler...basically a star player to boost the Blazers up to that championship contender level. But Kevin Pritchard might think getting guys like Kirk Hinrich and Andres Nocioni to plug into the starting lineup is enough to make them title contenders.

I don't think Noc would start for us. I'd rather have Batum, Outlaw, or Webster start over Noc

I Disagree. J. Chill isn't much of an upgrade over Outlaw or Webster IMO.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion, but in this I think you're dead wrong. Childress is like the ultimate hustle, glue guy: Great rebounder for his position, smart passer, quality perimeter defender, plays above the rim and would be a helluva complimentary player in our starting lineup -- he's basically everything I hope Batum one day matures into, except I think Nicolas has a higher ceiling.

+1, repped. Exactly how I feel.

and there in lies the problem with the fans in this forum. mediocrity. names like childress lol. how far is he gonna take us??? another freakin potential guy. no thanks...we already have bayless and 10 others. how bout a real proven player for once?????????????????

think bigger

But you also have to give some to get some. So if you want someone like Butler, then you better be willing to pay up. Why is this so hard for you to understand?

Childress is not an all-star, but he's definitely a very very good player; he has a lot of strengths and very few weaknesses. And I have to ask it, where the hell did you ever get the impression that he's a "potential" guy? He's already a proven NBA player that has been legitimately discussed in sixth man of the year terms, hardly the scrub or mediocre player you imply he is.

My advice: Actually watch some non-Blazers basketball and stop obsessing over who's getting all-star nods and putting up 20 points a night. I'd take Childress over Caron Butler on this team.

why? cause ive seen too many steals in the nba concernung trades making me think it depends how crafty ur gm is

You have to consider the circumstances on a case by case basis. You can't just say "Lakers got Gasol for nothing" and expect us to do the same.

Have you ever listen to a KP interview? KP hardly ever over exaggerates but usually underestimates everything.

We can't go by that because it's not what he said.

Quick was very careful to NOT say that, actually.

He said " I think that pushes them into that discussion of a Championship team."

He also confirms Sergio is not one of the players involved, just Raef and 2 bench players who are in the rotation.

Sergio is technically a bench player in the rotation.

When did he say Sergio wasn't one of the players involved?

What WOULD you do if Sergio was traded?

Fixed.

He's currently a starter and the team is running smoother with him than they ever have.

Blake's gotta be sweating bullets.
