Chip cancelled FOUR in home visits with highly touted and valuable recruits. Chip just flat out refused to go.

We will be fine in the long run if we get a good coach... But as Duck fans we have to realize we are in for a few rough transition years...
 
What is Chip supposed to do? Recruit the kids to his program and then leave them?

He had agreed to in-home visits, refused to go last minute and they are highly touted recruits who were seriously considering Oregon. I'm told, he has ruined our chances. If you're leaving, or don't plan on going, don't schedule the visits, or honor your agreement and recruit the kids you agreed to.

You're more of a forgiving man than me, I guess.

Maybe he refused to go because he didn't want to lie directly to their faces?

Also, how bad is it to sell a kid on your program knowing you're leaving?

He couldn't go. It'd be wrong.
 
...also hearing "several" verbals are already considering other schools and taking last minute visits based on the development....

Are you even a Duck fan? You do understand there's a normal, unspoken protocol, right? Brooks and MB go back all the way to 1977. If Chip had given the program a heads up, we could have dealt with the recruiting differently - the visits never should have been set in the first place. But, obviously he's like a whore and has a price and the Bucs found that sweet spot.

I'm willing to bet that he would have done this last year if we had won the championship. He was waiting to get his BCS win and then vamoose.

And you only get so many opportunities at the NFL, and you have no idea when this opportunity was presented to him. Acting like you do is foolish.

And sorry, going to these kids' homes knowing he wouldn't be there to coach would be pretty despicable, and I'm sure that's why he cancelled the visits.

Control yours. People are expected to be unhappy when your coach leaves you, and so close to LOI day. If you don't want to read unhappy posts about Chip leaving, don't' read them. SlyPokerDog is being just as childish.

I'm chatting with some very influential donors who are really ticked at how this was handled. Everyone knew he'd leave at some point, but the means is going to damage the program. It didn't have to be this way.

Maybe that's OK with you. It's not with me (or a lot of other people) - do don't tell me how to react.

That's your gripe? Perspective and control? Wow. The internet misrepresents emotions, so it's entirely possible I'm not the only one needing perspective and control.
Regardless, I can guarantee I spend more time and money and have for a lot longer in supporting the UO and DAF than you. That doesn't make me better than you, but guess what... It gives me the right to have an opinion. You have the right to disagrees so have at it.

Here's some perspective:

1whore: : a venal or unscrupulous person
2venal: : capable of being bought or obtained for money or other valuable consideration

Chip is a whore. And, around here we call him Will. :)
