Just curious, why is no one talking Michael Redd?

I mean, a sweet-shooting SG/SF who has a big contract on a small-market team battling for the 8th spot? A guy who is such a choirboy he makes Roy look like a thug? Savvy Vet scorer?

Is he too old? (29) Is he on a team that deems him Untouchable? I wouldn't think so. Is he a bad use of our cap space?
 
Not a great defender or passer. We could put Rudy in at the three if we wanted that kind of game, although Redd's is way more developed, and Rudy will get better at some point. He may or may not ever get Redd good, but I'd rather have a guy that can guard the perimeter at the three.

The contract is pretty ugly. The bigger problem, in my mind, is that his tool kit doesn't fit with our problems. He won't improve the "D", he won't improve ball movement, and he won't make us any less jump-shot dependent.

At $16 mil this season, $17 mil next season, and $18 mil the year after - I would hope for more than marginal improvement!
 
one dimensional player with large contract who is twenty nine years old. not enough upside.

Redd is a poor fit for the Blazer team. Doesn't defend, which we need badly. Is a black hole offensively, slowing ball movement. Doesn't make the bigs better.

I doubt KP is interested unless we were offered Redd for "free", and there were no other better deals out there.
 
He's a little too short to play SF and would hurt us on the boards. I like his ability to get to the FT line though.

Richard Jefferson is the guy on the Bucks who's the obvious fit.
 
Redd is money from outside, but not really the player we need. he is a sg.
 
Agree with the statements already made. Dude is bad at defense, not what I would want from our 3.
 
Redd has never been a small forward, and at 6'6" isn't likely to be a good candidate to start at this late stage of his career.

I asked Santa for a Gerald Wallace and I'm still holding out hope that the package just got lost in the mail
 
Redd biggest problem is that he wouldn't fit the chemistry of the Blazers of "team" first.

Redd had problems the Bucks when he was concerned that he wouldn't get as many shots as he thought he should when Jefferson arrived.

Also, Redd is also known to be a prima donna when it comes to practice. He doesn't go all out in practice or will skip practices.... "he likes to save his best for the games".....

I really like Redd's game, but have to agree that he doesn't fit in too well with us. He doesn't have great handles, and of course, doesn't play D.

I would have loved Michael Redd on this team four years ago when we had Zach. Now, with Roy on the team, Redd wouldn't fit. Redd is a guy who needs about 20 shots a game to be effective. He's a money shooter, but we have a lot of guys who can shoot from long range. We really need slashers and post up guys imo.
 
We might have offered Raef for him, which one might consider garbage.

I think it comes down to them battling for a playoff spot and not wanting to disrupt that.

This is exactly the kind of quote you'd expect a team to put out there when they are trying to gauge the interest of other teams and are trying to set baseline negotiating "price" about what they are willing to take in trade. None of the above mentioned teams seem particularly desperate to add a shooting guard to their rotation based on who they already have (Roy, Ginobli, Terry) although I suppose Dallas could have interest.

I wonder if he'd change his attitude on a team where he is clearly not the best player and a coach that demands every player to push hard in practice.
