if he performs well, hell land even bigger contract after this one is up (or it could be extension like we did with dame & cj mccollum)I think he'll want shorter to bet on himself for a much fatter contract down the line.
5/$105m would honestly be a dream imo. I could see Simons outperforming that extension like Jaylen Brown has been able outplay his.The Blazers seem very vested in Ant. I see 5 / 105 mil. Ant looks to be on a nice trajectory now.
One thing I don't see him average 22 points game with healthy Dame. Contract he probably get is 4/80 but I see his worth 4/60. The reason I say this he as yet show he can be two way players and I don't see him averaging anything near what he average last year. You got Grant and Nurk and Dame and maybe Hart on the same floor as him. He might be the 4 or 5th option in that lineup. But we will see what happens.
Is that with a PO in year 4?4 years, $88 million
There ya go.4 years, $88 million
Now what if a 3rd team throws a near max offer at Ant? Blazers would really only have a choice of either match or try to get an asset back in a sign and trade.
Wow 22 million a year for a player that's just play one end of the floor.4 years, $88 million
We're already paying 42M to a player who does the same. This would be a bargain.Wow 22 million a year for a player that's just play one end of the floor.
You must not watch NBA action if that surprises you.Wow 22 million a year for a player that's just play one end of the floor.
If you just gave him a 3 year contract I can understand some of that. But giving him a player option after year 2 doesn't make it a contract without downside for the Blazers. Lets say Ant is horrible, well he is going to pickup that option so its still an overpaid 3 year contract. Probably better to just overpay him a bit more than you propose for 4 years, not have options, and then we are guaranteed to have him for double the time of 2 extra years. The downside is only one extra year if its a bad deal.
Very likely he gets 4 full years and maybe a 5th. Just hesitant because it will be a different role, not nearly the same opportunities, guarding bigger players, and in games that mean something. Almost nothing like what he did in his short stint. Not to say he isn't good. But when is the last time the Blazers hadn't out RFA/FA contract that was worth its value?
22 million for a player has yet in his career have played decent defense. Plus I don't see him put up the offense numbers like last year with this team healthy. You must not watch NBA action if that surprises you.
That guy that getting paid 42 million have already prove himself for this team. We're already paying 42M to a player who does the same. This would be a bargain.

I hate that option. Some team will throw him 2 with a player option we're forced to match, and then he's an UFA at 24. No thanks.there is no team that would come close to offering Ant that much
I hope Cronin lets Ant, and his agent, play the market this summer because if he does, he'll be able to sign Ant for 18M/year
110M/5 or 110M/4?$110m
It’s a certainty
How about last summer Norman Powell?
Yeah it's some dangerous shit. I just hope that Low Joe keeps that first year around or under 20M.Overpay for the position they had for him which was SF. He was not very effective. If they had signed him to play his natural position and had minutes for him there, it would have been better, but they didn't. I fear similar for Ant. They will be paying him for a position in which he hasn't played that well. The number he put up where in a position and situation that won't exist this year. Hope it works out, but it will be a wait and see we are paying ahead of time for.
