if he's lightly practicing in a shoot-around, then, going by recent history, he may be 10-days or so from getting cleared to play

I sure hope the Blazers are not desperate enough to rush him back to salvage the season. But what happened with the Hood injury and Dame playing 79 minutes the last 2 games has me a bit worried

Rest him the whole season and get that lottery pick

Jusuf seems like the kind of guy who probably believes he can save the season...
He can't.
2021 big fella.

I don't know if Nurkic can "save" this season or not, but if he's ready and they believe he's good to play. I think he needs to play. Help him overcome any mental blocks, get back into game shape, if there are any confidence issues let him work them out now. You never want to rush a player back from an injury, but if he's ready he should get out there.

Love the loser mentality some of you possess. I hope you don't have that mindset in your personal lives.
Why so aggressive just because someone has a different opinion? This season is basicly over, the ceiling is a First Round Exit, probably a sweep based on how bad the Blazers have played against good Teams. Is that what you wann? 4 more meaningless games where we get crushed on national TV? I'd rather Tank and pick in the top 10

It's not a matter of opinions, it's a matter of what sports and competition is all about and tanking should never be a part of sports. That's why it's called a losers mentality.

Talk about "different opinions"...

With the season less than half over, the trade deadline still looming, Nurk's return impending, and Collins' return still possible, it seems just a tad premature to make such declarative statements on the season's ceiling.

He is trying to look at it from a longterm perspective I guess. It's different. If you don't want to call it tanking call it "not lose any longterm assets by being shortsighted". This team is not good enough. Don't lose on purpose, but don't sacrifice the future. Take 0 risks.

And that isn't tanking.

Not to mention that there’s a trade deadline approaching and the Blazers are likely going to be active. The team that’s limping along now may be drastically improved by a trade, players getting healthy, and the ability to sign a vet using the Hood injury exception. The Blazers just need to position themselves for a playoff run and then let Olshey make some moves.

This. It’s why I don’t really care what the team is like now, because I don’t expect it to be the same team after the deadline/once Nurk returns. It’s a pretty important deadline for Olshey though. If he doesn’t make any moves, we may as well just tank. But until the deadline passes and this team is out of the playoff hunt, tanking shouldn’t be on anyone’s mind. It’s not like this draft has a Lebron or Doncic in it either, so I don’t exactly see the point of purposely losing games either.

He’s already done it once.
You're preaching to the choir. This is my favorite (and most valuable) player.
But "dame-time" aint winning many games this year, the ball has become predictable, and the defense is made up of folding chairs.
I've bailed on this season, but not on this team.
I truly believe with one move this is a championship team, but the stars just aren't aligned for 2019-20.

Regardless, it is still important to try to win as a losing mentality can sometimes be hard to break

Yeah, it's been almost 10 months since the injury and there was no ligament damage so either it's healed and he can play or it hasn't healed which would be a much bigger issue and he wouldn't be dressing up for shootaround.

If he is fit to play, you play him.
He will need mins in his legs and regardless of this season- he will be better for next season because of it.

re tanking- losing on purpose creates a huge mentality issue. Grinding through tough periods and coming out winning will make the team better.

Tanking is a uniquely NBA tactic, and it’s a fucking disgrace. Families are scraping together money for overpriced tickets so these guys can make millions. Get your ass out there and try to win a fucking game. The whole point of the lottery is to boost disproportionately shitty teams, not for mid level teams to stand around and scratch their nuts the year prior.

Nobody on the Blazers are tanking. It's some fans who want to tank. You should be preaching to them, not the team.

You must have never been a Padres, Mariners or Marlins fan.

You mean by posting in a fan forum? Is that how I should preach to the fans? Here I’ve been on a soapbox in the blazers locker room this whole time...thanks for the great tip.

I wasn’t saying anything about the blazers dude. I was talking about tanking in general, as a practice.

Learn to not be so snarky all the time and present your posts more clearly. Reading your post it was clearly about the team and tanking, not the fans. I guess you just can't help yourself. Back to ignore you go. Buh bye.

You might want to take a look at what Jeff Luhnow and the Houston Astros did over the past decade or so.

That is obvious. Obviously.

How was it clearly about the team? I CLEARLY pointed out the NBA as a whole. Never singled out the Blazers or any of their players.

When you constantly whine about people “not presenting posts clearly”, at some point you have to think the problem might just be you. Especially when the posts in question are simple to understand, and somehow you're the only one who doesn’t understand it. Nobody else seems to be flabbergasted, just you. Again.

Weird.
