I don't think he is worth the max...Interesting though.
This past offseason, centers Brook Lopez and Roy Hibbert got maximum-sized deals and Omer Asik received more than $8 million a year from Houston, after averaging just 3.1 ppg the season before.
Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic, who is set to become a restricted free-agent after this season and previously expressed his desire to stay, may be next in line to receive a mega deal.
It just won’t come from Timberwolves President of basketball operations David Kahn.
Kahn is not that great of a fan of Pekovic and would let him go if Portland or another team offered him a max or near max money, according to Britt Robson, who has covered the Timberwolves since 1990 for City Pages, The Rake, SportsIllustrated.com, and most recently MinnPost.com.
Minnesota will be able to match any offer sheet Pekovic signs, since he is set to become a restricted free-agent.
There has been talk that the Blazers may make a run at Pekovic ever since Kahn tried to pry guard/forward Nicolas Batum away from them as a restricted free-agent last offseason.
I don't think he is worth the max...Interesting though.
