So what. 20 minutes in shorts in front of 5000 screaming women and he only got one fuck by your own count.

If he can stay healthy, he should win the 6th man of the year award. No doubt. Putting up those numbers is insane.

You should see how easily Kaman climbs trees and catches fish in his mouth. He has a lot of abilities.

LOL!

"Chris Kaman is a bear!"

"Dude I know!"

"No, Chris Kaman is actually a bear."

I think health has a connection with attitude. It's hard to be motivated on a shitty team. I think that creates disinterest and failure to want to lay your body on the line for the team you play for.

He's happy here. You can see it.

Yeah its just not about his numbers, but how he scores. That left handed bank shot he made when he was fouled is a great example. Big men with those type of skills are rare these days. He bales out the 2nd team quite a bit. When ever they get into trouble they can pass it to him and reset. or he can create his own shot. if I was Stotts I would keep playing him the way he is with limited minutes. Keep him fresh for the playoffs. His minutes will go up then.

It's kind of a crazy feeling to have a bench go to guy. Feels weird to even type it.

If you want to know why Robinson isn't playing, it's because of Kaman. We need a stretch four to play alongside him. He is a true post player and Robinson wouldn't work well with him. Stotts won't play two post guys at the same time. He likes to have one post guy (Rolo/Kaman) and a stretch guy (Aldridge/Leonard).

And then he got so committed to the success of the team that he stopped posting on Twitter. I can only assume that it is because there is little time for the internet between posting double doubles daily, and wrestling bucks with your bare hands.

I agree, in particular the part about having a stretch four to complement Kaman. Getting a Jeff Green, who can play the three and four to stretch the floor, would be awesome.

T-Rob + Wright for Green would be so nice.

Gonna cost CJ with Robinson and Wright to get someone of value. I like CJ, but he's going to be a career backup. He's too short to be a starting shooting guard and he's not a point guard. I would deal him to get the right pieces.

Didn't Brandon Brass win it too? I can't remember

Nope. The only forwards and big men to win have been:

Bobby Jones - 82-83
Kevin McHale (2) - 83-85
Bill Walton - 85-86
Roy Tarpley (WHO?!) - 87-88
Eddie Johnson - 88-89
Detlef Schrempf (2) - 90-92
Cliff Robinson - 92-93
Dell Curry - 93-94
Anthony Mason - 94-95
Toni Kukoc - 95-96
Danny Manning - 97-98
Rodney Rodgers (WHO?!) - 99-00
Corliss Williamson - 01-02
Antawn Jamison - 03-04
Lamar Odom 10-11

He's got a lot of subtle head fakes, up-and-under down to a science, and can shoot with both hands. He's making defenders look pretty bad in the post.

yes.. He should but well I don't think he will because it's the Blazers...
With everyone slurping on Crawford just don't think he'll get the recognition.
Which is silly because right now through 11 games I can't think of another player coming off the bench impacting both ends of the floor like he is on any team.
Maybe I haven't watched enough basketball this year.. which could be the case. But Kaman and his impact has been insane. I knew he'd add another dimension that Rolo doesn't bring but this much?

http://stats.nba.com/league/player/#!/advanced/?sort=NET_RATING&StarterBench=Bench&CF=MIN*GE*15

Bench players who play at least 15 minutes a game. I note however that some of the games played for certain players dont look right. But nonetheless these are encouraging stats:

Kaman's OffRtg is 109.1 and DefRtg is 92.3 so his NetRtg is 16.8 which is one of the best in the league for a bench player. Also his PIE (Player Impact Estimate) 17.6 which is 4th in the league for bench players.

Edit: I just realized that some players start sometimes and come off the bench in other games which is why the numbers looked off at first

Kaman is averaging 20 points and 13 rebounds per 36.

That is insane.

I would not give up too much talent for a unrestricted free agent. Green will almost undoubtedly opt out of his 9 mil a year contract at the end of the season. Would he resign with Portland to come off the bench? Could Portland pay him 10-11 mil along with the other starters who need to get paid this summer? Doubtful.

I absolutely love Kaman. I knew he had some of the best post moves of any big man in the game, but I didn't realize they were this good.

He's highly motivated and happy. Let's keep him that way!

I think one of the unheralded keys to Kaman's success is the coach: he's not overplaying him, he's giving him touches, keeping him engaged. At 20 mpg, I wouldn't be surprised if he played all 82, which would absolutely be awesome.
