You guys are nuts. Everyone album, except for 808s and Heartbreak, has been amazing. Even 808s was alright. It has some solid tracks on it.

His early stuff is good, Jesus Walks is great, but he's sucked recently.

College dropout is the exception. I can't stand the rest of his stuff.

That was definently a classic MTV publicity stunt that is more scripted then an episode of Lost. Seriously, MTV has somehow found a way of blending every kind of commercialized genre-thrash, down our throats and they are responding, by feeding them every penny of support.

agreed

But why would Kanye agree to something that would make him look like a complete dick?

That was a classy move by Beyonce to bring Taylor on stage.

Btw, Jay-Z with Alicia Keys was an awesome performance!

I can't believe they're pulling it off youtube. Do they think they can suppress it? Like people aren't going to hear about it? Find it somewhere else?

By suppressing it, they're creating more of a buzz.

Nauseating.

TMZ's had some funny quotes. Singers are uniting to absolutely bash Kanye.

We got Pitbull last night after the show, where he called Kanye a "f**king disrespectful motherf**ker" -- and he's not alone. Just check out these Twitter updates.

Pink: Kanye west is the biggest piece of s**t on earth. Quote me. Beyonce is a classy lady.I feel for her, too.Its not her fault at all, and her and taylor did their thing. And douche bag got kicked out. HA.

Katy Perry: F**K U KANYE. IT'S LIKE U STEPPED 0N A KITTEN.

Joel Madden: WOW Taylor Swift's first VMA and she didn't even get to ENJOY it. Kanye You were just a bully on that one man.

Adam Lambert: Kanye needs to chill. He freaks out every year. It ain't that deep man.

John Mayer: Big love to my girl @taylorswift13. A class act.

Kelli Pickler: Tator Tot, you handled yourself with Grace. Kanye, go grow some f-ing b*lls bitch! don't mess w/my lil sis!!

It's amazing how much people seem to care about this.

I never even heard of Taylor Swift, let alone heard any of her songs before last night.

Saw her win the award, and my first reaction was, WTF?. Who? What? Why? How?

I thought Kanye jumping onstage and interupting her speech was funny. Both funny because he was interupting an acceptance speech - let's face folks NOBODY BUT THE PEOPLE GETTING THANKED IN THESE GIVES A RATS ASS - and funny because you could see Kanye sticking his foot into his big mouth again. Good stuff.

I think part of the reason that some people get all upset about this is that they take these events and awards too seriously. They aren't serious. They aren't important. They aren't accurate. The winners are so often not "the best". They aren't lasting. It is entertainment fluff. Garbage really. So the "winners" getting all serious and thanking their agent and god and blah, blah, blah, is insanely BORING.

Bunch of self-centered, pompus, ego-driven, over-competitive, jerks. The whole lot of them. Why would I care when one jerk steps all over the "moment" of someone taking the event waaaaay too seriously. Yes, that means you Taylor.

And besides, it wouldn't have been so bad for Swift if MTV (and their terrible, terrible production team) hadn't cut her off after Kanye handed the mic back to her.

As for the music: Beyonce's song is silly, but kinda catchy and the dancing was good. Swift's song, which was performed later - was pedestrian, sappy and boring. And since her singing voice has little distinctive character, we are all left with, who cares and why is this special again?

Kanye is a high level musical talent that runs rings around Swift.

seriously, black celebrities have been assholes lately more than ever.

Kanye, Serena Williams and Jordan...makes you think!

:ohno:

Its still classless to rush the stage and stomp on someone's limelight like that.

Seriously, though, this is MTV. M fucking TV. Doodle doodle dee, wubba wubba wubba.

Kanye is a joke. I have much more respect for someone who at her age can not only sing (which kanye can not), but writes her own stuff as well. I think she has a bright future ahead of her.

Anyway, I don't see why this is any different than people freaking out about the Jordan HOF speech. In some ways it's worse. It's not like MJ got up on stage in the middle of Stockton's speech and said:

Jordan: John, John John..... I'm happy for you and everything, and I'm gonna let you finish, but I am the greatest basketball player of all time! I am the greatest basketball player of all time!

And then walked off stage.

that is merely your opinion. and why exactly do you feel it gives kanye the right to do whatever the fuck he wants?

Kanye makes some good beats. Taylor Swift is probably a better rapper than him, though.

LOL. It made me laugh because it's true.

Also, Taylor Swift is big with the young girls. Hell, my two daughters like her music more than they like Miley Cyrus. Plus, as previously mentioned, she writes her own songs as well. She seems very talented and seems to have her head screwed on right.

I found a lot of irony in this post.

Also, Beyonce's song (which she didn't write) flat out sucks. It isn't even in the top 10 songs she's performed over her career, IMO. Plenty of reasons to rush the stage, but doing so to defend Beyonce's foolish tune isn't one of them. While it seems easy for you to snark on these people, also remember that a lot of hard work goes into writing/producing a song, let alone an award winning song.

So you admit you had never heard of Swift prior to last night, yet you decide to give your expert opinion on her musical talents. Here's a hint - only Lil Wayne and Coldplay sold more units in 2008. :biglaugh:

Sigh.... Lil Wayne.

I think Kanye West is awesome. I love his album. Even 808s and Heartbreak. I fucking love 808s and Heartbreak.

But what he did last night was beyond fucked up. It was surreal.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kanye and Swift put out a single together now.

But I have a question...how in the hell does Beyonce's video not win best female video but the same exact video won for best overall video? Makes no goddamn sense.

Fucking news flash. This is a message board and all that is on here is opinion. Thanks for reminding everyone.

Where did I say that?

Well, since Kanye didn't coldcock Taylor with the mic, I don't think he feels he has the right to do whatever he wants. He spoke into a microphone out of turn. That's it. Relax.

Seems some viewers take these shows too seriously too.

And lol and the sensitive Taylor Swift fans. Whatever. I think her song is lame. So sue me.
