If you only look at the odds, you would be correct. I believe as it is even reported on left media, that the best thing that could happen, by energizing the right wing base, your predicted Blue wave may very well be a Red wave. The Dems have done themselves no favor with this recent play.

The republicans have buried themselves

What if no doctor on Earth wanted to perform them? Would it be the right of a woman to make someone perform the procedure?

Absolute rights should be things that you can do for yourself.

I am not speaking of an absolute right. Those who would make abortion completely illegal wish to take away all choice. That is wrong.

None so blind as those that will not see

Meeh, I am just looking at what is reported as well as how fired up a lot of voters are right now. It is easy to be complacent in mid terms, but the Dems have pissed off a lot of people, including those with a registered D

I think "hero" was never a word anyone would've used. Dude, is an opportunist.
I was using it because a few months ago, his bravery in taking on the President was being (credibly? maybe not) talked about as a springboard to the Presidency against Trump in 2020.

but...
Fox from May 15 said:
Democratic strategist Brad Gerstman thinks it was a mistake for Democrats to throw their support behind Stormy Daniels’ lawyer Michael Avenatti, and said he faces an uphill battle if he files a lawsuit against The Daily Caller News Foundation.
“If Michael Avenatti knows that these [claims] are untrue, then there would be an action here,” Gerstman said on Fox News’ “Outnumbered Overtime” Tuesday. “He’s a public figure so obviously the malice aspect has to be included in it. It’s a different set of circumstances when it’s a non-public figure. However, I think on a political point, I think that the Democrats, my party, have made a terrible mistake here.” Gerstman said the Democrats pushed Avenatti out into the spotlight to attack their political enemies, but it only served to strengthen the president’s base.

Which sounds awfully prescient, when you look at the quote in post 2010.

Nah. She is in great health. Won't leave till dems can vote in a liberal to replace her or until she dies probably at 120

She's transparently suffering from dementia.

I give her 4-6 months before she either dies or is impeached for inability to conduct her duties.

Isnt there something similar to the 25th Ammendment for SCJs?

The part that I wonder about (even though I will never vote for Booker for anything), is that we seem to be discounting that people can (and should) grow. In my worldview "there is none righteous, not one", and while there are varying levels of heinous crimes, if the bar is going to be purity going back 50 years, I don't know how you fight that. With that said, I personally had to make hard choices at 16 that allowed me to be where I am today, and people who I was with who made the wrong ones are in a worse position because of it. :dunno:

It's hard for me to condemn people because they were dumb at 16. It's easy for me to want to punish and set up for future deterrence people who have seriously hurt or raped people, or who are multiple offenders.

Hey, i'm cool with it but they brought it up on themselves.

The guy now has a chance to show

My wife and I argue about if Dogs have souls?
Im a no and she's a yes....

We are both living organisms. Why should we have a soul and they not? They feel joy and suffering as we do. Our brains might be more evolved. That is the only difference. We are both Animals.

In retrospect, my feelings on Kavanaugh had very little to do with the sexual allegations, but I didn't like the fact that he lied, showed lack of control, showed a complete bias against another party and some of his policies I disagreed with and felt that regardless of party affiliation there had to be someone better than Kavanaugh.

Nobody ever has all the info on anything. We both have opinions on Kavanaugh without knowing all the info, yet we base it on what we do have. As a guy who has been both a hiring manager and who in his free time worked with some struggling people in my city and took the time to learn welfare and workforce rehabilitation programs, I know a bit about AA. I know that Washington basically removed it from the State's hiring process through Initiative 200. But I also know that I don't know everything about it, so if someone has a different story or manner that it works (or doesn't) for them I'm not going to pooh-pooh it. I'm a lifetime learner.

I feel like she has a point, and a frame of reference I don't, in speaking of the concept of "economic privilege" vs. "white privilege". And (again, as we've discussed) I don't know why the African-American community has historically voted 90%+ for (D) candidates, even ones that get crushed like Mondale, when no other demographic has such a strong correlation to almost anything...yet she points out that it's partially because any in that community talk about leaving the D party they get turned upon. (See: Ben Carson, Herman Cain, Clarence Thomas, Kanye, Thomas Sowell). I'm not saying all those people are perfect or perfect representatives, but it's not something that I can or should rail about. Seems like she can, especially since it's happening with her. :dunno:

Look, you simply NEVER have to deal with assumed guilt.

I deal with it every day. We are assumed guilty.

Feel privileged that you aren't treated that way.

That has nothing to do with how much money we earn.

Rich athletes are being beaten by police so stop talking about economic privilege. It's because Sterling was black.

Look into the story about millionaire basketball player John Henson being denied entry into a jewellery store for being black. I'll wait.

That bitch don't know WTF she's talking about and you shouldn't listen to a word she says because she's not making a point, she's parroting one.

We gonna start believing her cohort Kanye when that MF says "slavery was a choice"?

Your privilege exists. The sooner y'all acknowledge it, the sooner race relations will begin to get better.

Do you have an answer to this question?

Well, now we get to watch the clock on Ruth....when she goes out toes up, if it is within one year of the next term, we may have to wait till after the election, as has been historically. Still think Trump takes 2020 and gets another SCJ.

It has NEVER been that way. Ever. This is completely untrue.

It’s not your skin color holding you back, it’s your victim mentality and the way you carry yourself... you will never be able to control how every single person in the world thinks, and for you to stereotype entire groups of people because of independent isolated incidents is ignorant and asinine... you will never be happy until you realize this.

My dad came here from another county with no money and barely speaking the language and made it... he was constantly harassed and attacked for looking different... he never made excuses and always worked hard and was greatful all the opportunities this country has given him... he didn’t live life making excuses and was always happy

It's honestly like a bizarro reality in which white people pretend everyone is treated exactly the same, has the same rights and opportunities, etc. and should therefore be walking side by side with them in middleclass America. In my opinion, this is a pretty racist outlook considering the overwhelming poverty in black America. Without admitting there is an imbalance they can place blame on the people themselves rather than the system that royally fucks them at every turn. It is not difficult to be opinionated and cruel, but it's obviously difficult to be compassionate and open-minded.
