Is Dame + keeping #3 the best scenario?

  • Absolutely - give it a few months to play out. What is #3 is better than Sharpe?

  • No - the band-aid needs to be pulled off. Go one way or the other.

I'm having a hard time believing that

but for sure, if the Blazers could get both players for Simons + Little + 23 they'd be fools not to do it

I think that's especially true considering that there just seems to be way too many questions about the top players in the draft
A suggestion was trading down to 4 with Houston and getting the BKN pick from next year, then sending 4, the BKN pick, Simons, Little and #23... Maybe include next year's first? I don't know... but it seems like a great place to start.

But like you said, hard time believing there is any truth to it...

Little would not need to be involved.
I'd try and keep him and use his salary as filler in another trade.

somebody else from Portland would need to be involved because Ant's salary alone isn't enough to match Bridges + Claxton (about 600K short), and the Payton TPE isn't enough for Claxton (about 100K short)

besides that, Bridges + Claxton next season = 30.45M and Ant = 24.1M. With the Vulcans in charge it's probably best to try and equalize salary-in/salary-out. Nassir would make it even. That might also be the difference between the Blazers having their full-MLE vs tax-MLE

Anybody see this? Probably not true, but worth discussing... I think it looks great. Like, maybe a contending team if you can fill out the bench well...

I don’t doubt that he heard it. If I had to guess this is what Portland is asking for, and is why Marks is asking for Sharpe—‘not only is your offer trash, ‘I’ want ‘more’ JUST for Bridges!’

Saw this on the RealGM Nets forum. Random dude, but the info actually makes a lot of sense just based on Dame's actions/words.

seems to be an eclectic combination of very logical and quite vague

I could be wrong of course, but I don't believe Dame is as determined to leave as many believe if Portland uses the pick to add a rookie, even Scoot

and I have not thought, for a second, that if he is traded to Brooklyn Portland would accept Simmons as part of the return

Is this Rastas guy, the guy from our forum? He's obviously coming from a Brooklyn point of view. But i can see, and stated it already many times , that Brooklyn will be very enticed to acquire that #3 pick if Scoot is available. They can keep Bridges all they want, but they ain't getting Dame in any universe with what they have to offer. They'd be smarter to trade Bridges and start over with the flashy Henderson. Brooklyn Nyet.

Maybe I'm misremembering but I feel like Josh Lloyd has been shockingly accurate on matters pertaining to Dame.

This report is interesting and I give it some credence.

So if we add Claxton, what do we do with Nurk? It would be intriguing to send out Nurk/Little for Draymond.

Dame
Bridges
Grant
Draymond
Claxton

I like your thinking. Package him with 23 to find another forward. I think John Collins is a good fit but ATL has no use for Nurk.

Yeah.... I'm not sure if this team is good enough to win a ring, but it would definitely be the most talented starting five we would have had in a long time. And then you have Sharpe coming off the bench.

VERY cool then. I like it.

Watch the video and it wasn't a report. He just said he heard Claxton's name come up throughout the year so maybe the Nets are not as set on not moving him as expected. Then speculated the deal.

yes he called dames shutdown last year and this year, and said a few weeks ago that the plan is to start Sharpe at SG this fall so he wouldn’t be included in trades.

It makes sense.

that kind of narrows the options left for Ant, and to a lesser extent, Dame, especially if the Blazers end up drafting Scoot

I believe I said this was the one and only trade I'd do for #3 (that wasn't Giannis or Embiid).

If it happens, I'd love it.

Color me highly skeptical though.

Bridges and Clax would be tempting even though in the past, Nic couldn't finish games because of his FT%. He improved that last year to where he would be the type of C that Billups has always indicated that he wants. Bridges is better than Ant, but is he enough better to trade the #3 for Claxton? That seems perhaps a bit of a stretch. Certainly worth considering since you would be accomplishing 2 things at once. Getting veteran help, but also having that talent be younger to go with Sharp and the rest.

Someone I trust, said that Nurk could possible end up in Phoenix if Ayton gets moved. Phoenix isn't interested in rookies and Portland would get the #10 pick back along with some other small pieces to make it work.

doesn't the #10 pick belong to dallas?

Dame to Boston

Brown to Houston or OKC

Young players and picks to PDX.

What do I win?????

nothing, because you didn't present a realistic trade scenario other than just throwing crap at a wall.

Dame said to JJ Redick (IIRC), something like, they (the media, doubters …) better hope we don’t win a title.
That’s what he wants. To beat the doubters his way, his terms. Then saying it.

I have hope. Guess that’s why I’m a Blazers lifer.

I’m okay delivering up Dame to a contender that returns serious younger players and picks. BUT that is option 2. Plan for the worst but get option 1 done.

This dude says there's only three guys to consider taking up at the top.

Wemby
Scoot
Amen

He's not in love with Miller at all.

What young players and picks?

There's two scenarios.

One is you send Brown to OKC for a handful of their plethora of picks and a young guy. Makes sense for them because they can put Brown with SGA and Chet.

Another is Houston IF they bring in Harden. They ALSO have a plethora of picks and a handful of young guys. They could in theory put Brown with Harden and Green.

Brown doesn't really make sense in Portland because I don't think he'd want to be here if Dame was gone. But OKC made the playoffs this year and I think adding Brown could really vault them up the standings. Houston is a bit of an unknown. Depends on how serious they are about actually trying to win now.
