Back on track, I think those of you discounting "blowing it up" as turning us into MIN or SAC or something are forgetting about OKC and ATL have reinvented themselves in the last 3-5 years much like we did pre-injuries.
I think Roy is here for the long haul, good or bad. Personally, I'd love it if he reinvented himself more like the 96 Jordan, where he didn't necessarily have the quicks or the hops, but he had guile and could post up anyone they'd put on him, or hit the 3. (Not saying, of course, that he's that talent level, but the same idea--unlike, say, Ricky Pierce or Vinnie Johnson)
I think Wes' contract is a steal, especially locking up for 4 more years a guy who can put up 20ppg while playing D against the opponents' best player
I like Batum a lot and think he'll be extended or matched as an RFA
i don't think Mills, Dante, Babbit, Armon have much value even as fillers. So we keep them and decide if they can play.
IF I was blowing up the team, I'd think about the following:
Oden to Indy for whatever we can get. Foster's EC and a first? I'm thinking that Oden will take the QO and "play" here for a year before going to Indy for peanuts, where he'll become the next great Eastern Conference center. This saddens me, because I'd love to keep him here for years, but even if he took a 2yr veteran minimum in summer 2012, coupled with the QO it's like getting a 3yr, 12M deal, except he'd be guaranteed to be playing in front of his mom every home game. Trading him now gets him to Indy a year and a half quicker, and guarantees Oden for Indy.
LMA, Andre, Camby, Przy on the block to teams that are a) in the playoff hunt, who have either underachieving (or not getting any run) young players and draft picks.
Rudy somewhere (maybe in conjunction with the veterans above) where it's a big market (NYC, CHI, LAL). Maybe to LAL for something like Barnes and Caracter. Or to NYK for the Chandler+2 2nds platter. Or keep him...he seems to have a Sergio-esque rapport with Patty Cakes. I don't mind the way he's been playing recently.
I'll think more about it, play with the trade machine some...
I saw Hibbert play a couple of days ago.
He may not have the potential of Oden but he is pretty damn good.
Plus he actually plays in games.
I highly doubt that Indy would make any sort of deal for Oden right now.
