Vance just mentioned on WaW that last week when they were all in vegas that a Devin Harris trade was already set up and they were just watiting for the matthews thing to go through and for the Blazers to get a GM

(this is just like the TP thing, but, its Kenny Vance, who has been pretty spot on with things, that is saying it)

They heard from non-Blazer people that they had something with NJ that also involved Lopez.

Vance immediately dismissed it. Like Kenny said, it's B.S.

I question how much better we are with Harris than Miller in the short run. Definitely better in the long run though.

Harris trade I could see Lopez is a pipe dream although a magnificent one to be sure.

It seems that there's something cooking, as many of us know.

Listening to Courtside last night, the way Chad Buchanan phrased a response (something like, "We have some things going this summer, and we'll see where they end up") made it sound like there was more than just the team getting ready for the preseason.

Thanks for passing it along, for those of us unable to listen to the radio during the day. What else was said?

Miller/Bayless/Rudy for Harris?

Can't see any chance of Lopez, unless Oden was sent there.

No mentions of specific players

he did mention that he is extremely ok with letting bayless go (Which i am as well)

Harris is a very good point guard but the majority of fans here have made him into something he's not. They are going to be so disappointed when he is not putting up CP3, DWill or Nash like numbers.

And I happily wait for the "but he played on the Nets last year, he'll do much here" reply to my post.

Dammit dude that went from fantasy to a pants changing embarrassment. I do that trade instantly and twice on Tuesday after 5PST.

P.S. Why would that be incumbent upon a Matthews signing?

It wouldnt be, i know, i shouldnt have mentioned it :)

If that trade went down it's oden + harris + JPEC + filler for cp3 + Okafor time baby.

Quick question: is Devin Harris a better point guard than Andre Miller?

Why would NJ send us the only two players that have a chance of helping them get a single win this season? I would send oden for lopez in a heartbeat. Lopez will be an all star this year. Devin Harris was one 2 years ago. NJ is in no financial trouble and this seems too good to be true. If it is just for devin harris then retract everything i just said.

I would imagine it's based on Williams becoming trade-eligible again. The Williams signing might make Bayless more expendable, but I can't imagine they'd have a deal for Harris not go through because they don't want to lose their backup PG.

I'd guess Miller and Eliot Williams for Harris...

In 2008-09 when he played with VC, he had a 21.6 PER

Andre hasnt had a 19 PER in the last 8 years

Harris wouldn't solve second scorer syndrome, but oh man our perimeter defense would be SIIIIICK!

I'd do that. Much as I'd like to see Williams play first I think you have to pull the trigger on that one. Rather ship out Bayless then Williams at this point.

I'm not saying that we shouldn't trade for him. I like him. I just get nervous when some in here make him out to be an elite pg. Just afraid they are setting themselves up for huge disappointment.

Better PG than Miller or Better fit with Roy than Miller?

I think Miller + Bayless OR Williams is a very fair trade

Now why would NJ do that???? i dont know...

Quick question: is Devin Harris a better point guard than Andre Miller?

Right NOW? Maybe not. He is, IMO, a superior/more consistent defender. He's also a superior shooter from behind the three point line (although he really struggled there last year, and being superior to Miller in that respect isn't saying much). On the other hand, he's more injury-prone (who isn't?) and he regressed last year in many respects.

In the long run, though? He definitely is. He's over seven years younger than Miller, which is a big difference... and it's not like Miller has a ton of playoff experience that we would be sacrificing by shipping him out for a younger guy.

Harris will never be a superstar, but he can be a borderline all-star... and at age 27, he fits in quite well with the expected window of contention for the Blazers.

What if Cho's fancy godlike software doesn't like Devin Harris?

Oh, I forgot, the Blazers are "collaborative" now.

So then the Q is, why in the hell would NJ want to trade him

Harris is NOT a better PG than Miller.
He's not a better shooter than Miller, either.
He WAS a better defender and still is a better athlete. But he's more of a ball-hogging combo guard than a PG. He's certainly not the ideal player to play alongside Roy. You've got to think that the extreme crappiness of NJ last year was a red flag.

Nervous about what? That they might have an actually justified reason to bitch and moan?
