I have the same prediction every season...my lucky number...54 wins...I was only off by 5 last season...there's hope!

As we sit now, I have a hard time believing we make the playoffs.
Yeah we're not making the playoffs, and honestly I hope we don't. Yeah, there I said it. I hope we don't even try. I'd much rather spend the rest of the offseason and the deadline getting younger and hungrier. Yeah, we're already young, but we can get younger. Golden State isn't going ANYWHERE for three more years, and we're not going to get anywhere trying to go through that brick wall. Better to dig under it.

Where you actually have access to more than we do, let me ask you of your opinion of this roster so far, and without significant changes, where do you see us finishing this year?
Man I don’t really get a team vibe or feel for chemistry until we are a couple road trips into the season.

52-30, unless there is an injury to Dame or Nurk. I like the progression of this team. I see the youth with more experience, and playing bigger roles. Dame continues to get better each year. I think CJ will bring more to the table as well. Let the media doubt them. More fuel for the fire. Go Blazers!
You really think we have 52 wins in the west level of talent on this roster?

Not allowed. You must make your declaration about how the team is going to finish right now. Grass is always greener, and no one will ever be able to replace Ed "Bill Russell Jr" Davis's production.

Every time he reads this message board.
I had a really long post going about mrs hcp’s availability during road trips 2 and 5 - wanted to schedule around the holidays. Then I realized I had used up my one mrs HCP joke for the day a few hours ago, so I shortened it to that and I just don’t feel good about where I ended...

Not sure how this team got "worse". Yes, missing Ed *should* be bad, but the improvement over the backup PG and SG will more than make up the difference. Plus, I'm not sure that Zach is as far away as others do.

Not saying Stauskusususlosopolis is a great addition, or that Curry is 6th man of the year material, but the players they're replacing? One was barely a fringe NBA player and the other was an undersized streaky PG.
I am of the opinion that the team is better in relation to last year's squad in terms of overall ability, but worse relative to the rest of the conference.

I'm thinking 44-38.

If you were in a race, and you were in 8th, and the 5 people in front of you were hit by a car so you finished 3rd.... would you say you were actually the 3rd fastest person in the race?
If someone sprints 100 meters and cramps up and doesn't finish their marathon, were they still the fastest in the race?

A dogfight! This season we'll be in a dogfight!! I see little separation between POR, UTAH, NOP, MIN, DEN, LAL, OKC, SAS. Assuming only GSW and HOU are "better" teams/records, that leaves us in a pileup on a foggy freeway in the morning! I don't see great improvement in store for PHX, SAC, LAC. Only MEM could get better from the bottom dwellers. Realistically, we could finish 2nd or 11th this year.

Is that because you were 54 when you lost your virginity?

BAM!!

//The HCP
I was born in '54....also some of the best jazz and blues recordings were made in 54....it's always been my lucky number...my oldest child is 44 so I must have lost that virginity at the age of 10 then

If someone sprints 100 meters and cramps up and doesn't finish their marathon, were they still the fastest in the race?

If someone runs 100 meters of a 42,195 meter marathon, they've run .0023% of the race. That would be the equivalent of playing 9 minutes of an NBA game. I think that's enough to make a prediction on the season, no?

I usually give credence to your opinion.

I agree that in relation to conference, we slipped a bit. Hmm, overall ability? Yeah..if and when the guys develop, although we were really exposed last year, especially against teams that doubled our guards. I cant see where we have the coaching, the players or the mind set to over come that weakness. So wee added some shooters..okay, so the idea is to shoot ourselves in and out of games...still see Dame trying to carry the team.

I will call it at 38-44.

There's a difference between something that's preventable and something that was not. A guy tearing his ACL or something of that nature is not really preventable. Which is why I said "hit by a car" and not "cramped up and fell over."
