If they kicked in an unprotected first, would you take on Bargnani's salary, Valanciunas and Ross for Aldridge and say Williams?

Ya, I feel the same way, I do love Big V and Ross has all kinds of upside

For me, it's gotta be Bargs, DeRozan, and the pick for Aldridge. Anything involving Bargs and Aldridge would have to include DeRozan and the pick. Then I'd go out this summer and try to sign Pekovic.

They can't trade a pick, which kills the value of the deal.

Toronto already has a pick outstanding to Oklahoma via Houston.

Top 3 protected and 15-30 in 2013, top 2 protected and 15-30 in 2014 and '15, Top 1 protected and 15-30 in 2016 and '17, and unprotected in 2018.

AKA the Andrew Wiggins guarantee.

If the Raptors got a top three pick this summer, and were to swap with Portland, that would negate that rule. Would it not?

Don't you have to make a first round pick every two years? Maybe the Raps would pick-and-trade to circumvent.

It would have to be an agreement before the draft were they draft the guy we want then we do the trade after they have drafted said player.

I phrased that wrong. If the Blazers and Raps were to swap picks, wouldn't it negate the rule?

Yeah a pick has to be made but it doesn't have to be your own originally.

But we can't swap, because WE don't have a pick either. If a pick is involved, it'd have to be a draft day trade.

BTW I think JoVa, Ross, and Noel would be kind of expensive for LA. Just sayin'.

Trading for an all-star who hasnt fallen off is never cheap, your always overpaying even if that star wants out.

I was talking about in June when we know if both teams have picks. Blazers is top 13 protected, Raps is top 3 protected.

Sorry, I missed your initial mention of that, just completely passed it over. You're correct. But then that doesn't help the value as much. Moving up a few spots, compared to just getting a pick outright. Especially if you shift the deal to Bargnani and Derozan and just a swap of picks. Bargs is almost negative value at this point.

Id much rather just wait until the draft and trade for the player Toronto has drafted while keeping our pick. But im greedy lol.

Actually I think it's a huge jump in value because of the talent crop in this draft. Very top heavy. And it could be quite a few spots considering where Portland could be at the end of the year and where Toronto could be. Just think if we hadn't acquired the 6th pick in this last draft. We'd be picking at 11 and would have ended up with Leonard, or someone else nice, but no Damian Lillard.

Sure, would have sucked to only have 11. But we gave up Wallace in that deal. Big difference, IMO, than giving up LMA to move up 8 spots. Bargs hurts the value of it. I don't think I'd do LMA and our pick for Derozan and their pick. Adding Bargs makes it worse.

Well, you would be moving up 8 spots AND getting DeRozan in the deal I was proposing. We pretty much got nothing but the pick out of the Wallace deal.

Yeah, the 6th for Wallace is great. And the benefit even more so was we got it outright, not swapping, like you are proposing. It gave us two picks towards a rebuild. Yours gives us 1. I can maybe see some argument for Aldridge and pick for derozan and pick, though I don't like the deal at all for us. I still think it favors them. Adding in Bargnani makes it awful, in my opinion. If we're going for a break it down, go young rebuild, then paying Bargs big money sucks.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of adding Bargs either.

Yeah, I think he becomes much more palatable if you get the other team to overpay with 3 prospects. JV, Ross and pick, you can then pretend you are spreading Bargs' salary across 4 people, and his 10 a year isn't as bad. Plus, in theory, we keep our pick. With Derozan and pick swap, we lose our pick, and don't get to spread Bargs' deal around other cheap deals.

If I had to choose I would take Aldridge over Barf every day of the week. Also, I'm not to enamored with trading our All-star for a draft pick and throw ins.
