That would be spectacular for San Antonio, but they'd lose youth in Parker. And New Jersey would be set back, perhaps low in the playoff picture, but that's an excellent young core in Martin, Jefferson and Parker.

I don't think it will happen. If it does then I'll eat my words but I don't see how this trade is going to help either teams. The whole attack in New Jersey is based on Jason Kidds passing abilites on the break and in the halfcourt. They would have to kind of revamp the offence to Parkers shoot-first mentality. Whats going to happen to kittles, Martin, and Jefferson who thrive on Kidds passing?

With the Nets doing pretty well now, this trade won't happen.

I can see the Spurs doing good with Kidd but losing Parker could be very detrimental to the team in the later years. This kid has confidence and game to boot and he is only going to get better. The Spurs just won the Championship with this kid at the point and I don't really see them letting him go.

All in all, I think its a bad trade...for both teams

Doesn't anyone else but myself like Parker? He has a real nice attitude and personality to the game. An unselfish player, not that good offensively or defensively this year but good enough. He's trying hard and can become much better, isn't that enough for him to stay? It'd be great to have Kidd, he'd really spice up the Spurs game, though that might not be a good thing....

it's not about liking or disliking Parker...it's about the supposed immediate improvement of the Spurs and the long term improvement of the Nets....thats all it is....sometimes you have to make moves and move players you like in order to help the team as a whole...

Do you think he can improve though Chukk? I know Kidd's better, also hasn't Horry been playing decently for the Spurs lately? That's probably Ward, I haven't watched any of their games for awhile you see. Just the recent one against the Knicks.

I think Parker will be,and has the ability to be,an elite point guard in this league. Parker has all the talent in the world IMO. But I can understand the Spurs' motives in doing this....the Nets' motives as well.

Well,I think the Nets are looking to make a change and keep an eye on the future.....I don't think they can contend with Detroit and Indiana when it comes playoff time and maybe they realize it..who knows tho'...

I know change is good(at times), but I really don't see this trade goin down.

If it does, I don't think Parker, Horry and Mercer will help the Nets get over the Pistons and Pacers at all. I hope this doesn't happen because I think both teams are well off as is.

They might be looking at the future, but not this season. Heck, they're not even sure if they can resign K-Mart. When you trade Kidd today, then lose K-mart afterwards, that would plain suck. You have to at least be sure to have one of those two players to stay competitive.

Besides, Nets are playing their brand of basketball nowadays. It will start from a K-mart block or rebound, then Kidd will pick it up. He'll run down the court then throw an oop to Kmart, RJ or Kittles. Besides, Kidd's finally showing that he's happy with the team.

I don't see the trade happening.

This was the kind of trade that was mentioned in the off-season for NJ to get something back for Kidd, nothing came of it.

Kidd is not the answer for the Spurs, A slasher, scorer or another post player aka Jermaine O'Neal/Elton Brand is what the Spurs really need to repeat as champions.

The Nets may be looking for a change but i dont think it will involve Kidd. Kidd controls this team on the floor and without him distributing the ball to everyone. I dont see this ever happening.

I agree with allnet here. I see this as a terrible trade both ways. First of all, I don't care if Kidd's an all star or not - I'd never trade three of my guys for just him. Parker is developing and outplayed Kidd in the playoffs last year, Horry has an excellent experienced player and provides a good back up center and power forward. Mercer, though... I see him gone.

I think everybody should get a birght side here. Nets get a future all-star Tony Parker and Ron Mercer and Robert Horry are good. San Antonio get a player in his prime now.

You guys are forgetting one important fact: the Nets just fired an excellent coach in Byron Scott. Why would they fire him (due to alleged problems with Kidd) and then trade Kidd??

I'm sure the Spurs would jump on this deal immediately, but don't see the Nets would, all that hard work in resigning Kidd and now give up and trade him for the future? Don't see that happening. Horry's contract has a team option for next year on it, and I think Mercer's deal is up at the end of this season so this would be a Parker for Kidd trade straight up basically. Don't see it happening, even if the Nets wanted to rebuild out of no where.

There is no way this trade is going through. The Nets already have a full roster of 15 players, which the NBA limit is 12. So trading Kidd for 3 other people is just going to raise their roster to 17. Plus the Nets haven't made a decent trade or draft pick in 2 yrs (Mourning; retired, Griffen; jailbird, etc..) and I really doubt this trade because Horry is getting too old and probably going to retire next season or the following, Kidd is way better than Parker, and Mercer doesn't have that good of numbers.

What the Nets really need is a good center. The Nets have gone through 4 centers in two and a half years, and yet they still haven't found a dominate center other than Collins who is only 7'0".

They fired Scott because he had bad relationship with the entire team, not just Kidd. Plus he did a VERY poorly job of rotating the bench and the starters during games. He practically played the starters the entire game until the 4th quarter where he plated the bench to lose the games. Plus eveyone know that Scott wasn't the only one who led the Nets to the Finals. The assistant coaches and Jason Kidd played a HUGE part in taking the Nets to the Finals, mostly the assistant coaches. Byron was just there to bark orders.

LAWRENCE FRANK IS GOD! Not only did he recover the Nets from a season high of 5 straight loses, he came back with a season high of 5 straight wins. Plus he has tremendously improved the Nets defense, offense, pick and roll, fastbreak points, etc... He does an excellent job of rotating the bench. Hell he even helped Jason Collins defensive skills by shutting out Yoa Ming. Lawrence Frank is one hell of a coach.

1)you said it..they fired Byron cuz there were problems between him and kidd...why would you trade kidd now.

2)if they were in a losing streak..but they are in a winning streak right now everything is looking good...why change.

3)the main reason the nets are a great team and had been to finals for the past 2 years...is because they are the number one team on the league on Fast Break points...and all that comes from Kidd running the court and passing to K-Mart Jefferson or Kittles..for the finish.

I'll repeat what I said a while ago, Kidd is finally showing that he's happy and they're finally playing Nets brand of basketball. Why mess it up?

Also to add to that, why would they ridd themselves of a player they need so much and rely upon so much. That's just not practical, I don't think it makes sense and that it won't happen at all.

Even if this trade happens to go down. How crazy would the Nets GM be to trade Jason Kidd? Ive gone over my points why trading Jason Kidd would be dumb.
