Trump doesn't believe in debt. He'll just file bankruptcy.
actually not such a far fetched idea, but I think he'll probably just bully China with Russia, India and Japan....then impose sanctions before he breaks it up and divies up the real estate...it's going to be his legacy!!!! Make China a great casino again!

Trump eventually had to scale back his tax plan’s hefty price tag: The top individual rate in the plan is now 33 percent, individual deductions are capped, and “pass-through” businesses get a smaller tax cut.

Yet the downsized proposal came with similar growth projections. A fact sheet distributed by the campaign estimated that the economy would expand at an annual rate of between 3.5 percent and 4 percent following the overhaul of the tax code, compared with the 3 percent rate Trump originally had cited for the more aggressive package:

“The Trump campaign's economist estimates that the plan would conservatively boost growth to 3.5 percent per year on average, well above the 2 percent currently projected by government forecasters, with the potential to reach a 4% growth rate.”

In a speech in New York, Trump focused on the higher figure — and again suggested it wasn’t high enough.

“That's why I believe it's time to establish a national goal of reaching 4 percent economic growth. And my great economists don't want me tosay this, but I think we can do better than that. Now, they're upset. They'll be very upset. But I think we can do, and maybe substantially better than, that.”

4%.

fill in the blanks with natural disasters, the cost of two wars and the process of reconstruction.......making money is all your graphs show....what money is spent on is conveniently absent....you realize how many national and global tragedies we've been slammed with over the last decade have cost? This is skewed Denny and why polls are just specks of dust on the table of reality. Get back to me when Trump miraculously turns all these things around with a twitter account

What the government TAKES is some % of the overall GDP figure.

If GDP is $100 and the tax rate is 5%, it TAKES $5.

If GDP is $200 and the tax rate is 5%, it TAKES $10. A tax cut to 4% and it takes $8. $8 > $5.

The idea is to get GDP to $200.

The data are the data. After spending $4.4T any way he saw fit, you got Obama's weak growth.

But I think we can do, and maybe substantially better than, that
Wait until his Katrina happens.....or his arms race...if Trump does a fraction of what his bluster proclaims....I'll be shocked. I think we're facing a transition that'll take half a century to sort out..and don't expect a quick fix in my lifetime

If it stops raining for two years, we are attacked on two fronts, have a rebellion, etc....you can flush the wall street projections down the toilet....but hey...you could be right...let's hope there's an answer around the corner...shit happens doesn't really have a poll or graph yet

Why does any of that hurt GDP?

Here's W's GDP growth, including Katrina and the two "wars."

yeah...those dips to me mean we had to spend a shitload of money on one or the other....proves my point about what the up and down meter really reflects

Obama printed $3T or more in money and borrowed $10T. All that is ADDED to GDP, increases it.

Just wow, was he bad.

when a tree falls on your roof....you have no choice...maybe you wanted to keep that money but the roof is all between you and winter.....Will Rogers

No, Mags specifically promised 6%. But I'll be happy with 4%, if it happens.

barfo
Why should Mags speak for Trump?

Under certain proposals, 6% was feasible. Scaled those plans back, 4% is more realistic.

And the roofer gets paid.

might as well just cut and paste this over and over...it really says how you feel best

Disagree, it doesn't mention butt hurt at all. You have to work that in.

Denny Crane said:
Obama bad bad bad. Hiliar criminal, lock her up. Trump absolutely fabulous in every way, except I didn't vote for him. Voted for my Johnson, although I can't explain what it's useful for. Climate scientists all crooked unless they agree with me. Losers are butt hurt, except for Libertarians who aren't losers because they got more votes than they did last time. Popular vote matters when talking about libertarians, does not matter when talking about democrats.

LOL barfo.

You're one funny guy.

Not everything Obama did was bad. On the economy, much worse than most of his predecessors.

If it's my roof he does....Trump might stiff him for shoddy work excuses while groping his daughter....but hey...

The roofer paid for the materials. The lumberyard got paid.

It's not like we left New Orleans in ruins after Katrina. If we had, you'd be closer to right.

It's Worse Than Bush Derangement Syndrome

I was hoping to write an upbeat column to kick off the new year, something about how all sorts of things in our great country are bound to get better in the months ahead, a column based at least as much on wishful thinking as hard-nosed reality. A columnist can get away with that kind of fluff this time of year. But it's hard to be cheery when our nation is in the throes of a full-blown epidemic, one that is causing so much pain to millions of our fellow Americans.

Yes, I'm talking about the dreaded mental disorder known as Trump Derangement Syndrome -- or simply TDS.

Hyperventilating. Good word for it!

The media’s hypocrisy and hyperventilating in the age of Trump

By Joe ScarboroughJanuary 2 at 6:44 PM

The groupthink that has overtaken national media outlets is embarrassing. There is an intellectual climate so suffocating that even stating that truth, or daring to line up a presidential interview, makes one be seen as a member of a suspect class. Reporters don’t have to like Trump. But they do need to stop hyperventilating long enough to approach the next four years with a balanced perspective and at least start pretending to once again be objective.

Un-'Real' America Must Hold Trump Accountable

By Eugene Robinson

WASHINGTON -- Humility is a virtue but fake humility is a sin, or ought to be. So let me begin the new year with full-throated praise of some people and institutions that supposedly got their comeuppance in November: the mainstream media, so-called "coastal elites," share-the-wealth liberals, pointy-headed intellectuals and others said to be hopelessly out of touch with the "real America."

In what too quickly became the consensus view, all of the above were put in their place by Donald Trump's narrow electoral victory. We unreal Americans were demonstrated to be clueless, the conventional wisdom has ruled, and now are obliged to slink away and repent.

Then he goes on to make excuses. Still a good read.

But he's right about holding Trump accountable. Maybe after the butt hurt wears off, there might be some actual constructive activities.

This is such a good one.
