What do the Knicks have that would be worth Przy's expiring contract?
 
I'd rather not deal with big salary players and the Knicks because they don't have anyone I find interesting that makes as much $$ as Joel.

Just trade the Bayless TPE + NO's pick for Anthony Randolph and call it a day.

No thanks. From what I have read, Azubuike has pretty much been a gimp since he came back form knee surgery. Turiaf is a part time player at best, and doesn't have a real good injury record. Randolph is interesting but has been a failure everywhere he has been so far.

Value. I'm guessing (hoping?) that Cho wants to get on-court value back for his expiring contracts.

Perhaps a 3-team deal would make more sense, because I don't see much on the Knicks roste that makes sense for the Blazers, and the Knick players that interest me are on rookie contracts, so Cho would have to take more players back. As an example, Wilson Chandler is a nice player, but SF isn't a position of need. Anthony Randolph, perhaps?

I'd like to see JPEC used as part of a more "wow" trade.
 
I wouldn't mind Chandler. Issue is he's a free agent after the season, which sucks. Would add scoring to our team, though. Salary is an issue with them, as we'd have to add a couple of players together, and don't really have the roster space. I guess Turiaf and Randolph for Joel works salary wise. But, if they need depth up front, I don't think they'd swap Turiaf for Joel. That doesn't improve depth at all.

Well that all considers your perspective. Am I ready to give up on Batum? Nope. But do I think he is a quality SF at this time? No I do not, and I do not consider him anywhere near Wilson Chandlers level of play.

Now I also ask you consider this. The situation with Roy is many fold. He could shut it down. He could come off the bench. He could shuttle into and out of the lineup all year long (Worst case scenario IMO). If most of those scenarios happen, Mathews will take Roys spot at SG. When Mathews moves to starting SG, we will either need a new starting quality SF or a new backup SF unless you plan on using Babbit, and how they choose to "Plug the hole".

So that being said, I would be all over Wilson Chandler coming back in that trade.

No thanks? Azubuike is probably equal to Rudy even if he is a gimp. Turiaf is a part time player? What are Joel and Dante? Randolph has more upside than everyone else in that deal combined.

Do you even go look at these guys before you make statements? How about you go look at Azubuke's stats for this season before you consider your statement again. What's that? He hasn't played this season? Yep he sure is a gamer. Why hasn't he played? Because he is a gimp after his knee surgery. Yea lets trade Joel for a gimp, a backup PF who registers many DNP's because of ongoing health issues who is also limited in minutes per game because of his heart condition, and a draft bust. What a fucking great idea.
 
I would rather go after Aaron Brooks. Not an ideal PG but he can score. And he and management did not see eye to eye on a new contract. And we like to over pay for our players, so I see a nice fit.

PER: 17.0
Points per 36: 16.5
Boards per 36: 11.1
Blocks per 36: 2.4

Dante Cunningham career stats:
PER: 12.5
Points per 36: 10.9
Boards per 36: 7.5
Blocks per 36: 1.1

Randolph is better than Cunningham right now and has so much more potential I don't even know what to say.

Ronny Turiaf career stats:
PER: 14.4
Points per 36: 10.8
Boards per 36: 7.7
Blocks per 36: 2.8

Joel Przybilla career stats:
PER: 12.6
Points per 36: 7.3
Boards per 36: 7.8
Blocks per 36: 2.7

Turiaf plays 19.9 minutes per game compared to Joel's 11.3 minutes per game. How is Turiaf a part time player?

Kelenna Azubuike career stats:
PER: 14.3
Points per 36: 15.3
Boards per 36: 6.0
3 point FG%: 41%

Rudy Fernandez career stats:
PER: 14.0
Points per 36: 13.3
Boards per 36: 3.9
3 point FG%: 38%

Even if Azubuike is a gimp, Rudy undoubtedly still wants out of Portland and Azubuike's contract is up after this year.

The only one of these comparisons that is even arguable is Fernandez and Azubuike, but the other two more than make up for it.

“What moves can they make?” “Unless they want to take back a contract worse than Roy’s, there are no deals out there for them. There are always people around who want to dispose of bad contracts. For Portland, they just don’t have many moves they can make. They are locked in on players to the point where they really don’t have much they can do.

You said "looks can be deceiving" when it comes to the Blazers looking like a team about ready to blow it up. How is it so far fetched? It wouldn't be difficult at all for the Blazers to trade Camby, Joel or Miller to a team in win now mode in an effort to acquire picks or younger "talent." We almost certainly will not be able to get any stars in trades using those guys as trade bait, but draft picks and unproven youngsters (like Randolph, et al.) are certainly attainable.

If management is convinced that the door is shut on this iteration of the team in terms of the playoffs (nevermind championship contention) then going young and trying to get out of the luxury tax for the next few years might be their only viable strategy.
