Knicks Lose 81-83 vs. Warriors

I couldn’t see the game, but judging from the box score, it looks like we lost yet another close game. We were also shooting terribly from the field and from the line again. Marbury shot just 50% from the line. I’m not sure when he got those misses, but they might have been in the fourth judging from past experiences. Curry was also unable to stay on the floor with 4 personals in just 16 minutes. The same applies for James. He got 3 fouls in 7 minutes of play. The Knicks big men have to really improve on this aspect. A real shot-blocker such as Theo Ratliff to go along with a lock-down wing like Darius Miles would be perfect for the Knicks. We’ll see what happens, though. Anyway, the real story of the game appears to be the play of the young players. Ariza, Frye, and Lee had some great games looking at the box score. Nate was struggling from the field, but I don’t know what intangibles he brought to the game, so I’ll just leave it at that.

This game needed to be won in order for us going on such a tough west coast trip. The Knicks will have to be ready on Wednesday.

I thought Larry Brown had the wrong players at the wrong time, I couldn't watch the game either. He didn't have his sharp scorer guys at crunch time like David Lee or Trevor Ariza whose had a decent game, but had guys like Antonio Davis and Matt Barnes in at the time and I thought that was bad coaching having a bad lineup. I wouldn't panic this early, but I have a feeling the same problems are going to show up again and again as the season goes along.

Yep... it was the "Raja Who?" effect. One good showing in the playoffs but an overall garbage player whom everyone thinks has broken out.

Frye? You mean the same Frye you and H20 thought was a mistake?
It's still too early but I dare anyone to say they weren't impressed with the rookies yesterday. Particularly Lee and Frye. 12 points 6 rebounds in 23 minutes for Channing. Lee had 10 rebounds in 18 minutes and most of them came during that run where they got the lead.

I'd keep Taylor and Rose on the IL for the rest of the damn season and keep the rooks growth going.

Ariza is a jumpshot away from being prime time.

Which teams do you think would want to take on Jerome James long contract?

Actually when I think about it, maybe, just maybe... the Hawks, because of their center needs and inability to attract their own FAs other than Joe Johnson.

Maybe the hawks will be stupid enough to take that contract but I doubt any other team will. No1 would trade for a foul prone bum like JJ. He must feel real good making all that money and barely playing 10 minutes a game. Frye impressed up all. Jose, KA, etc all bashed Frye including me about his aggressiveness but he's shown me why he was drafted 9th overall. I agree the rookies bring more to the table then Rose, Penny, and Mo do.

You guys are right about Frye,Lee,Ariza being highlights. Warriors COULD have blown it out had they realized sooner that despite their size,Curry + james were zero defense Nate probably should have had more minutes,nice energy but too little time. Penny-Rose-M Taylor + Crawford add up to about $40 mil a year salary,did nuthin'. $40 mill? You could buy an F-15 for that kind of money.
Marbury should become the shooting G. He's no playmaker. that could mean the 3 rookie picks are starting by late season.

James? The Knicks habit of getting what they want by throwing money around has resulting in James getting double his real value. Hawks? Zaza is way better-and far cheaper. If a somewat good player like Jalen Rose or Malik Rose is hard to move due to $$$ issues,James will be impossible unless he really improves a lot. Warriors have Foyle,who is somewhat overpaid but a solid defender and 110% hustle. James for Foyle? NO NO NO,you'd need to bribe us with Frye. That's how bad the James signing looks.

Dunleavy is just another overrated overpriced player...........
About the game..with the ball in J crawfords hands, The play came after a timeout and they couldn't even manage to get a shot off..... ..coming off 0-4 before this game should make them more intent in winning the game....against the "warriors" ....in this form only an off night by sactown will get em their first win....

Hey just wanted to say good luck Knicks. New coach can sometimes mean growing pains... I mean we had Monty last year and it was just horrible substitutions... and like Larry Brown, he did not play the rookies even though they had more talent than the veterans.

Don't mind Kensaku, he's just trying to kid around, but he's not doing it to upset or troll the Knicks fans. Personally, I think the Knicks have some good pieces, but it's a patchwork quilt as there's no chemistry guys. That's the real problem. Q likes to shoot. Crawford likes to shoot. Marbury likes to shoot. Mo Taylor likes to shoot. Curry likes to shoot. I mean they can develop chemistry as a team, but Isiah's always toying with the lineups and going after players with suspect D or not enough basketball I.Q. Plus, he had no size at the center spot in the offseason and wound up giving Jerome James a huge contract out of desperation and now it turns out he probably will not be used at all since they also drafted Channing Frye to be a future center and then they landed Curry to be a future Shaq.

Anyway, Knicks fans already know this, but one day it could all turn around. Crawford, Marbury, Q, Curry, and Frye are all very talented players.

I have severaly observations I'm just going to throw in here.
1) Larry's bias towards old veterans has to come to a stop soon if we want to finish with a respectable record.
2) Channing Frye is looking sensational, you can tell he's getting a lot out of Herb and Larry as coaches.
3) Jamal Crawford can not control the ball in pressure points in the game. All fellow Knicks fans, I ask you to watch a few of the games this year and go look and see just how careless he is with the ball in the final seconds of a given quarter of half.
4) Larry puts in Malik Rose at the worst possible times, I know it pertains to #1 but I was so bothered by it I just had to make another number for it.

I hate to say "I told you so" about Davis.......but, I told you so. The guy is not even close to starter quality in the NBA. We need to somehow make a deal and acquire a half-decent PF.

Expect for me to post more later.
As you all know I've been quite busy as of late, and I have not been feeling my best. But I'll be watching the games and I should be posting back at my normal pace in a few days.

Future Shaq? Wow. You're more optimistic about the Knicks then I am. As far as I'm concerned the only way to solve the problem is to break this team down and start from scratch along with the younger players. As well as firing Isiah Thomas of course.

To be fair Rose is probably our best defender and rebounder up front. Curry cant be in those end of game situations. Not even the Bulls had him in the game in those kinds of situations. I suppose he could have played Frye instead but the last time he played a rookie against the Warriors when the game was on the line the rookie turned the ball over.

This team just lacks the toughness needed to deal with the other team making runs. Portland did the same thing to us last game. We were up by halftime, they made a run and came away with the win. This is going to be the story of the season unless we start trading certain players away. By the way what was Larry Brown thinking when he didnt call a time out to set up a final play? Isiah Thomas also needs to bring in a shooting specialist. The Warriors kept on doubling Curry that has to stop. Although I must say Frye is impressing me. It was still a mistake to draft him over somebody who could have been the next Shaq but he isnt as bad as I thought.


Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.

Because he's our best rebounder and defender. Down the stretch when Larry Brown wants stops Curry's defense becomes a serious problem. Curry didnt play in crunch time under Scott Skiles either.


Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.
