Jason Kidd will be a free agent this summer and the Knicks will be interested, according to Alan Hahn of Newsday.

They likely would offer him the mid-level exception for a short-term deal.

Kidd will give the point guard position some much needed depth and the Knicks hope he will also help lure free agents who will want to play with him.

If Kidd wanted out of Jersey because he wasn't winning, what makes you think he wants to sign with us?

The Knicks are expected to show interest in Jason Kidd, but they might only offer the point guard a one-year deal.

Kidd is rumored to be interested in returning to the area after spending a number of years in New Jersey.

New York will only have the midlevel exception, about $5.5 million, to offer Kidd. More than a one-year deal is highly unlikely, as the Knicks won't jeopardize their salary-cap space in 2010.

I think they'll pass on Kidd....there is no reason for him to come to NY anyway cause he's looking to be on a championship caliber team and we definitely don't fit that. I say he stays w/ Dallas or potentially tries to find a way to LA or Cleveland if they are interested.
