Not sure if this was mentioned in the local media, but while discussing the tribute the Spurs paid to Kobe, Mychal Thompson pointed out today during his radio show that Portland is the only city so far NOT to honor Kobe during his farewell tour. I had to laugh about that. I hope we end up being the only ones.

In all honesty, I think Kobe would respect that most.

I heard that on the radio too. WTF? Do they honor other teams' players when they retire? I thought his complaint was total bs.
 
Kobe thinks higher of us because of it. He loves the attention but loves the hate even more.

Historic players have been given farewell tours in their final year (if it is known that they are retiring.)

They did it for Kareem. They did it for Jordan as well, I think. Hell, I think the Miami Heat retired #23 in his honor.
