Yeah I said it and its true. There's no excuse to still not have a GOOD point guard on this team. You know one who can get into the lane and make oden look good. Tyson Chandler sure got a whole lot better when he started playing for the hornets huh? weird. Imagine what Oden could do with a real point guard who can beat his man off the dribble and get into the lane. But that will never happen because KP and BLAKEY are neighbors. Oh and by the way BLAKEY is the gayest nickname I have ever heard

Greg Oden should move to New York.

KP is an idiot for going after Turkoglu.

KP is an idiot for not signing Turkoglu.

You're getting old. I try to avoid the "ignore" button, but it's getting difficult.

There is a lot of truth to this.

your twisting my words. KP putting all his chips in one basket then losing the basket was an epic fail! and going after turkey was an epic fail. This is all true

Just out of curiosity. If Portland wins the Championship next year, what will your views of KP be?
There is a vocal minority here that will never be happy with our coach or management.

These are the same people that criticize KP for not making trades, but the second he makes a bad trade, they get mad because he's reaching.

Some people are happy being unhappy!

Actually there is a vocal minority here who thinks KP walks on water and can do no wrong. Its a joke. If your happy being mediocre for the next 5 years then thats your problem

You know what this team REALLY needs? Another negative hater troll to help balance out the opinions on our forum. Why on earth should anyone be allowed to be positive about an incredibly young and talented team winning 54 games and getting better year, after year, after year. It's much more fun to spout negativity, make sky-is-falling prophecies, and generally annoy the hell out of the 95% of the fan base that actually supports their team, enjoys watching them win and is thrilled beyond belief with the progress this team has made over the last three seasons. 54 wins is sure a hell of a lot more enjoyable than 21. So far, we've won significantly more games (21 to 32 to 41 to 54) three seasons in a row. I call that progress. Until that trend reverses, I see no reason to bitch and whine endlessly, in every single post, about the moves of a front office that, so far, has completely turned around this team in a very short time span.

But hey, some people are just so desperate for attention, that negative attention is better for them than no attention at all. That's why god invented the ignore feature, and I thank god for that. It keeps this forum readable at times like this. I highly recommend it.

Dude - you need help; this kind of bitterness will get you no where.

Blake is not perfect, but he is one of the major reasons this team finished tied for the 2nd best record in the West last season. To blame him for Oden's lack of production is pure nonsense. How many times have we seen LMA run down the court faster than his counterpart and watch Blake throw him a touchdown pass for an easy deuce? How many PGs could have done that?

The fact is, there aren't many "real" PGs our there - Blake one of the few. Most are basically tweeners. Blake IS a GOOD PG.

The failure in the 1st round was mainly a bad draw (I actually believe we would have done better against the Lakers). The fact is, the Blazers were out-coached (1st game not fronting Yao) and pretty much out-played by the majority of the Houston starters. It happens.

Perhaps next year, the Blazers will go further. Ask yourself how long did both Houston and Denver have to wait to get by the 1st round!!??

Take off the red and black glasses mr positive and deal with REALITY!!!!!! you think the lakers would be all smiles with winning 50 some odd games and a first round exit? Well with KP in charge he has managed to throw a huge chip (Raefs contract) away! It could of made this team a title contender with that chip. You don;t get those chances often and when you do you got to take full advantage of it. So get used to saying first round exit.

Trading Blake for Hinrich or Andre Miller wouldn't appreciably change this team. IMO, KPs big screwups were trading Zach just to trade him, Clearing Cap Space 2 years into the future with no real target (I guess that's the whole Tom Penn thing) and not trading RLEC.

I still think we're fine. I'm good with going to war with Blakey, I think an upgrade at the 3 spot is more important than at the point.

There is a lot of truth to this.

KP is too close to his players.

Underneath the over-heated hyperbole, this remains a legit concern.

Is KP to close to his players emotionally? Does he simply over-value them? The evidence remains circumstantial - but I'd be lying if I said it doesn't worry me.

You're wrong Eric. Hinrich is appreciably better on defense than Blake, and Miller is appreciably better at distributing the ball than Blake.

Again, I don't think it would appreciabely change the team versus than having a more aggressive SF that attacks the rim, which I think would be more effective...an athletic 3 versus a better PG?

How many other teams in the league do you think Blake would start for?

My stance on Blake is this: He is an excellent backup but a below average starter.

As to he being the reason we wouldn't win a championship, that's obviously a gross overstatement. Teams have won with subpar starting PGs in the past, and will do it again.

I'm absolutely fine with Steve Blake, sure he choked but he's not going to cost us a ring because we don't have him versus Kirk or Andre.

He can start for the celts and they'll still win. He can start for the Cavs and they'll win. He can start for the L*kers and they'll still win. He can start for the spurs and they'll still win.

He won't cost them a ring if he was on their roster as the starting PG IMO.

They will be amazement. I had no idea that KP could put me to sleep for years and years.

Sorry, Portland is not close to a championship. Way too many holes in their team.

KP has yet to make a real trade. He has traded away malcontents, bad eggs, and bit players, bt never part of his group.

And if/when he makes one, I expect nothing but praise from you no matter how bad it is.

I'm sorry, but unless your defintion of a "point guard" revolves around standing around and puking up shots from beyond the arc, Blake is NOT a PG. If this was an NFL team and Blake was our QB, the coach would just give up and run the single-wing offense.

I wonder how many people said these things to posters in the Bulls forum a few years ago? The baby Bulls were supposed to be awesome, for many years.

Steve McNair went to the super bowl at 25, I think. He never made it back.

The fab 5 was supposedly the greatest recruiting class ever, and never won anything.

Yes, the team is young and full of promise, but that doesn't mean shit really.

There is all kinds of reasons to be happy about Portland, but you have to seperate that from the fact that we should still be trying to get better.

The L*kers (with the triangle) might be the one contender he could start for and not hurt them. If you seriously believe he deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Rondo or Parker - you need to put down that jug of moonshine!

That wasn't what I was asking, though. I was asking what teams WOULD he start for, as in over their current starting PG. I can't think of very many.

And I disagree about SA, they wouldn't still win with him starting over Parker.
