KP in the doghouse

I have posted before that when Quick gives Pritchard all the credit (e.g. not mentioning McMillan, Allen's overpayment for signings and trades), Pritchard glows with pride and in his answer he takes all the credit.

I call bullshit on this. I never hear KP try to take all the credit. Not sure where this is coming from. I have heard it from other posters and certain national media assholes, but I have never actually heard KP do this.

I'm not sure it's far to characterize the Billups deal as "lucky" (most great deals can otherwise be characterized as lucky that the other GM screwed up), but if Warkentien is the next Blazers GM, I am a little worried that his resume is a bit lacking outside the Billups move (and I agree that trading Miller for Iverson in the first place was almost as negative as trading Iverson for Billups was inspired).

I'll give him credit for acquiring Birdman. That was an under-the-radar player that's been valuable for Denver. But he also dumped Camby for nothing.

So his best moves are almost entirely canceled out by his worst. Most of the rest of their core (Anthony, Nene, Martin) was in place when he got there.

Warkentien doesn't seem like a bad GM (so, at least, he wouldn't be a reprise of the PatterNash debacle)...but that seems to be about the best one can say about him. I think Pritchard, so far, has been a very good GM. Unless Pritchard has done something truly outrageous, I'd lose a lot of respect for the franchise dumping him without a clearly superior GM ready and willing to be hired. Warkentien ain't it.

Iverson was a giant expiring contract.

I have posted before that when Quick gives Pritchard all the credit (e.g. not mentioning McMillan, Allen's overpayment for signings and trades), Pritchard glows with pride and in his answer he takes all the credit. His unproven low draft picks are always treated as future stars by his fan club (if a pick fails, it was someone else who made him draft the guy). When his moves are questioned, he answers about how he has faith in the golden future, deflecting it from himself.

In other words, he absorbs the positive, but reflects away the negative. That's why I say he belongs in Marketing, because he's been so good at marketing himself, as his adoring fan club proves.

Your posts are fucking crazy.

I mean straight up weird.

Quick: How have you done such a great job in yada, being such a golden boy in yada, how did we win that last one, etc.

Pritchard: I think we're on the right track in the changes we've made since we brought in the current GM and we see a bright future for us because of the changes we've instituted yada yada and saying changes implies criticism of my predecessors wink wink.

He doesn't say
Pritchard: Nate did a great job to win that game. With so many guys out, I don't know how he won. Great strategy and great adjustments. How does he win with such a young team that I saddled him with? What a coach. And how bout that Paul Allen for making my job easy. I'd like to thank the organization and I'm just a tiny part of it and deflect the praise elsewhere and yada and golly, I'm just a little nothing and I'm being humble.

I try not to post unless I have something creative and entertaining.

Thats what I thought. Nice effort though.

When the Blazers advance to Round 3 because of the signings of Camby, Miller, and Howard, and the "addition by subtraction" of getting rid of softies Blake and Outlaw, Kevin Pritchard will be holding the cards.

Well if we're just talking about speculation, I speculate that KP was torn between the two and went with Oden because that's who Nate wanted.

I've always leaned towards that theory. I can't forget that KP called Durant a "killer" and you know after talking to Oden for five minutes he would never consider him a "killer".
