KP wrestling with failure - Roy and Aldridge talks stalled

Maybe they anticipate the cap and the max salary reducing dramatically over the next 4 years. :dunno:

But yes, harsh article. The Blazers golden-boy is finally getting a does of reality. Though, I'm really not terribly upset that we didn't acquire any of these free agents. They all have too many question marks. Age, how they'll fit in with our squad, how much of an upgrade are they to our current players, how will it affect our player's development....

But I think the Millsap move would be terrific!

Look on the bright side. If this report is true, we can put to rest the idea that "Pritchard overvalues his guys and refuses to let them go."

Right? :)

Sometimes I think Quick (and others) say things like this just to watch us fans act like this.

Yes. Paul and Williams were the last max contracts and only 4 years. Should Brandon be paid more than Paul? In this economy? I can see why, if this is true, they would start the offer here.

That would make sense other than the fact Pritchard offered HEDO F**KING TURKOGLU 5 YEARS!!!

I read a report that Brandon Roy asked KP to only extend Brandon Roy's contract for 4 instead of 5 years since he wants Brandon Roy gone so it'll be "his team".

Could be, but this is a pretty big statement to make about the two franchise players and how management is treating them.

If this is true, KP is in deed an idiot. But if this is not true then everyone calling him an idiot because of a internet post, is the true moron. We will all see.

As I digest this, I feel it can't possibly be true. It seems much more likely that Roy and LMA want the 3 year/4th option contract due to the low cap next year.

Quick got this one wrong. He had to have got this one wrong.

Bingo

+1.

Hmm, if this is untrue, how does "telling a lie" equal "completely outmaneuvering?" You've started with a speculation as to where Quick is getting the information, then speculated on the motives of those sources...and somehow ended up with Pritchard getting bamboozled?

I think you're letting your frustration over the draft/first week of free agency colour everything.

Regardless of the source being truthful or deceitful, this is still not exactly the kind of thing you want leaking into the media.

Besides, I never said KP was getting bamboozled, I just said it seems like there's either a play by some agent to put pressure on KP or the rumor is actually true that there is a snag ... my gut tells me that there probably is some kind of snag in the negotiations, because I'm having a hard time seeing what specific advantage there is to be gained by an agent or some other league source falsifying some information about an extension and then putting it into the grapevine.

As for my general frustration with KP and the summer so far, yeah I admit to being pretty underwhelmed by his handling of the off-season so far, and this does add to that snowballing feeling of disappointment, I'm not going to duck it or apologize for feeling that way.

I heard that was just a rumor started by, you guessed it...Brandon Roy.

Quick reporting that the Blazers have a "toxic" contract plan to sign Milsap gets 6 pages of analysis of that move

Quick reporting that the Blazers are playing hard ball with Roy gets 3 pages of saying you can't believe what Quick says

Because one sounds logical and the other sounds like either Quick or Pritchard has had their brain replaced by radioactive sludge.

So Quick wins tonight, 6-3.

I wasn't asking for apology. I just think you're spinning things in the harshest light possible, perhaps unconsciously. All your posts lately have been, "The way I interpret this is that Pritchard is incompetent. Damn." As if the previous several seasons of building possibly the worst roster in the league into the arguably the best (factoring in future) has invested Pritchard with zero credibility at all.

As for "bamboozled"...it seemed like a reasonable synonym for "completely outmaneuvered."

If you told me to put my money one which is more likely to happen.

1) We sign Millsap
2) We extend Roy this summer.

My money is on #2 ALL DAY.

The 09 plan is now down to: extend Roy and Aldridge!!!!

valuable cap space baby!!!!

Well, 1 page of "you can't believe Quick" and 2 pages of "Pritchard is the dumbest GM in the history of GMs."

Wait tho. A 4-year max deal at $57m is better than 5-year $50m, right. There's no disrespect there.

Years matter to me more than $$ when offering All-NBA and All-Star players like Roy a contract. Then again, this report can't possibly be true, so it's all hypothetical.
