My problem with this, or rather, with fans discussing it is, if Conley was on our team, he would be a great prospect, the next...whoever. But since he is on another team, every flaw seems to be picked out. Now, I am fine with picking out flaws in a players game we might be looking to obtain, but after 15 games, we have Batum as the next Pippen, and Conley is never going to amount to anything, it would seem. I think a portion of that, as well, is not watching him, but rather looking specifically at stats. Again, if that was used for our players, the numbers for guys like Batum, Sergio, etc. might look pretty poor. And there are stretches where they make mistakes. But since we see them, we can see the flashes that make them look good.
Much the same way most Blazer fans seemed to mock Laker fans last year for hyping Bynum for putting up 13-10-2.5, with flashes of greatness in different games that they saw. Fast forward, and we see flashes of greatness in Greg, but if we went just off of #s, it would be easy to criticize what he has done so far. Not sure specifically what I am trying to get at, but in general am, for one, always amazed at the quick dismissal of other players by our fans, and then the general insistence that our young guys can easily to develop to X, while another team's players will never achieve that sort of ability.
