4 seasons later, we're still waiting for Nate to have this kind of influence on his players.

What is the special knack KP has for getting the most out of his players's talent and limitations that Nate has never gotten close to?

I remember that game. It was all Ha!!!! 6 of 7 shooting?! 5 rebounds?! Kid is a beast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I remember thinking, we got the next YAO!!!!!!

I remember that game, too. To begin the fourth quarter, Pritchard started what he thought was the future of the Blazers:

Ha
Telfair
Outlaw
Khryapa

and I forget the fifth starter.

Very exciting fourth quarter.

And then I remember the next day. Quick of the Oregonian wrote absolutely no recap of the game. He instead used the whole story to do a flaming piece on the whole Blazers season. In the notes section of the story, the final sentence said something like "Oh by the way, the Blazers beat the Lakers last night".

I lost all respect for Jason Quick and the Oregonian that day. He was such a tool back then. He didn't even cover the game, nor the exciting 4th quarter comeback. It was more of the "Jail Blazers" crap that the Oregonian wrote about to death.

And then the idiots at the Oregonian wonder why the Blazers thought they weren't treated fairly in the press during that era. Ummm, maybe if they just would have objectively covered the game, and not used the final game to write a smear piece on the Blazers, they would not have lost so many readers (including myself) during the Jail Blazers era.

Wow, that has to be the single most craptastic Blazers/Lakers game in the history of the series.

For the Lakers, Chucky Atkins started and played 43 minutes. Sasha Vujacic started, played 39 minutes and failed to score (quite the accomplishment). Jumaine Jones started and played 37 minutes. Chris Mihm started and played 30 minutes.

Even with Kobe Bryant in his prime, I'm pretty sure our current second unit could be that group of nobodies 100 times in a row.

Don't get me wrong, I know it was 1 game in an otherwise very disappointing season, but it was 1 of the most entertaining of the thousands of Blazers games I've seen over 4 decades of being a fan.

A bunch of nobodies and misfits pulling together to beat a team expected to mop the floor with them. The chemistry and teamwork was unlike anything I've seen since.

Easily the best defensive teamwork and effort I've seen from a Blazers team since the 90's.

Regardless of roster or lineups, this is the kind of effort and commitment and the excitement it brings, that I'd like to see from our current team. And I don't see Nate bringing it at all, especially on the defensive end.

Dave Twardzick got more floorburns in a month diving for loose balls than our entire team has in their combined lifetimes.

I some what agree with you on Nate. But I'm willing to give him one more year to further define himself as coach.

I don't think he is the long term solution here. And wouldn't it be interesting to see KP be the long term solution here?

More telling is our .553 FG% to LA's .429%. Excellent shot selection, excellent screens and picks, excellent court spacing, and excellent inside defense.

Or our 28 assists to 11 turnovers. Now there's a stat Nate would like to see with this roster.

I'm just wondering if maybe KP could find a way to again instill that kind of participation from this team, either directly or somehow through Nate, because that is what this team is still missing in spades.
