Frontcourt enforcer Kurt Thomas, I'm strongly told, headed to Portland on two-year deal. Blazermaniacs deserve some good news

I hope the 2nd year is a team option....I don't want Kurt Thomas hurting our cap space situation.

Kurt Thomas?? Good news?? Guess its better then pryz or pendegraph.

So...whats the good news?

Great....

If he can have a Juwon Howard-esque impact, then that's fantastic. I remember when Thomas was relevant back when I was in middle school.

I think he can still play about 10-15mins a game at PF/C.

Should be something like:

PF: Aldridge (30)/Wallace (15)/ Thomas (3)
C: Camby (25)/ Aldridge (8)/ Thomas (10)/ CJ (5)

Bulls fans love him! Wow maybe they have worse love affairs then us.

If his nickname really is "Big Sexy", I think I can warm up to this.

I am surprsed he started over 30 games for them last year. Averaged 23 minutes a game and almost 6 boards. He will be 40 next October.........

Not a bad pick up. I do see the similarities with him and Juwon Howard. They need one more though

It'd be great to have him as a mentor to Greg or any other raw/inexperienced bigman but now?...

Just want to make sure I get this straight...

Right now, if we had to play today, our starting 4 and 5 would be Kurt Thomas and Marcus Camby? Unless Chris Johnson beats one of them out?

And the average age of our team goes ^.

But hey, if he's can still rebound and play defense, more power to him. Welcome to the Blazers.

No Wallace would start at pf and batum at sf.

Thomas would be first big off bench

The last two years his DRtg has been at a very high level, especially @ Chicago (98)

That lineup is among the best in the league.

If we were in 1997

It depends on how much they're paying, of course, but it is generally ridiculous to offer a 39 year-old guy a two year deal.

A guy with PERs of 9.9 and 10.0 the last two years? Even worse.

Of course, if/when he gets hurt (as older players so often do) it would be a blessing in disguise to get his inefficient minutes replaced with someone who might actually be able to contribute to the present AND to the future.

Sheesh.

Ed O.

I'm not saying he won't be a good player for us...I actually kind of like the move. But it's more a lament over Oden and LMA and Roy. :dunno:

This is what our team was lacking.

K.C Johnson
Kurt Thomas remains one of the best screeners in the league. Really helps offensive spacing with that and ability to pick-and-pop.
