This. Kuzma in college had about the same impact on games as Layman did for Maryland. They were guys who had skill and size, but played a team game. You never know if that guy has another level to their game or not. It appears that Olshey thought Jake did. That remains to be seen, although so far, his shot is just way too inconsistent. Kuzma on the other hand, had another level. And unless you have a cell phone capture of Olshey's draft we will never know his predraft thoughts on Kuzma. He could have been on a "do not draft" list, or he could have been 1b to Swanigan's 1a. We will never know. And that is why the draft is like gambling. The best talent evaluators will miss sometimes, and the most inept will hit a homerun.
All data regresses toward the mean. Look at the over all draft analysis and Olshey has done a damned good job.
