LA PLAYER OF THE WEEK!!!!!

Shooter, the stats don't tell the whole story. I watched the game and Aldridge destroyed him.

Yep. Not only did Aldridge put up better overall numbers, he did it while while covering Griffin one-on-one for much of the night.

Griffin wasn't guarding Aldridge for most of the night because he flat out couldn't do it. Aldridge had the center on him all game and the doubleteams were coming from everywhere.

Even if the stats were completely equal, the ability of Aldridge to guard the other team's best man while Griffin couldn't is the real key.

Huh? Griffin had 18 rebounds to Aldridge's 8. He also had more assists and more steals. Aldridge had 28 points to Griffin's 20, but that's certainly not a "dismantling."

Like I said:
Not only was it the record, but LA totally dismantled Griffin in a head to head matchup. The stats don't say the whole story.

But it is a testament to how good Griffin is. He had a bad game and still put up 20/18. He's on his way to becoming the best PF since Timmy.

He took 13 foul shots. Those numbers aren't quite so impressive when you factor in that 8 of his points came from the stripe, so really he was just 6-17 for 12 points. That's really not that impressive.

Getting to the line is a skill that LA hadn't mastered until his 5th season. Griffin absolutely does get his fair share of shady calls, but he does know how to draw contact.

Please, the guy is coddled, just like Durant, Wade, LeBron, and all the other "anointed ones".

Would that one loss be the game where LaMarcus made Griffin look bad. Is that the game you are talking about?

Yes, it is. What does that one game have to do with the overall week, which is what the award is called?

I wouldn't say LA "dismantled" Griffin. Played him tough though and forced him into some turnovers down the stretch. Don't know if he deserves it more the Griffin, but I think this is a reflection of his past months achievements maybe.

Great news for LMA and the Blazers!

EDIT - wow, this board can't even celebrate LMA's big week without it devolving into a bitchfest. :)

What fun would a forum be if all that was posted was people agreeing with each other?

I've been on one of those... It's a lot of fun.

This forum is like having hate sex with your ex... again.

:ghoti:

Congrats LMA!

I would love to Donkey punch my ex, but her current husband (BeerBoy) might not like that!

All I'm asking for is just one thread. But hey, if people need to argue about LMA winning an award, so be it. :)

It can be both. People can celebrate that Aldridge won it and also analyze whether he deserved to win it. :)

I'm glad Aldridge won it, but I think Griffin had as good a case. Griffin was more productive for the week, but Aldridge plays significantly better defense.

Griffin is nothing like Tim Duncan. At all.

You're comparing apples and oranges, yet the winner is picked from which one maed the best pie. I'll have to divided apples/oranges, and find some sort of crust derivative to try and equal out the correlations and variations.

I was bored, and created a 12-tab spreadsheet multiplying apple cores by orange rinds to get a "Bitterness Impact" quotient. :ghoti:

This board would have a 10 page thread debating the relative merits of boxers vs. briefs.

Speaking of Jordan, he just walked by our TV truck!

"LA to El Cabo" doesn't have quite the same ring to it.

this game tonight fucked his chances imo.

I watched the game, too, and I saw Griffin get 10 more rebounds than Aldridge. You can't "destroy" a guy who outrebounds you by 10.

If he owns the Celtics on TNT on Thursday, all will be forgiven, I think.

Yep. Not only did Aldridge put up better overall numbers, he did it while while covering Griffin one-on-one for much of the night.
Yet Griffin got those 18 rebounds while being covered by Aldridge . . . Griffin also had more assists and steals, so this whole "better numbers" story is a bit suspect.

Fixed.

That's what I'm talking about son! BeerBoy, I'm going try to do a Road Trippin' with Love tonight.
